well my problem is that I’m most awkward with my friends because i already know so much about them and I just kinda never know what to talk about and I never see anyone else having this problem. When I’m at a group hang out, my friends can just talk to each other for hours and hours and even if they’re not talking, it’s not awkward. But then when I talk or especially when there’s like a one on one hang out, the conversation dries up so quickly and I know that it must be my fault because these people don’t have trouble talking to anyone else.
does anyone else struggle with this????

A really good question you can ask in that awkward silence is
"What are the things you enjoy to do in life?"

That way the person might start pickipng up more interest in the convo, but if the person doesn't say too much you gotta tell them that you are actually interested and curious on what they do. (Btw I'm saying all this as an introvert person)

She: "i got into a car accident recently".
Me: "i like cars"😶

I tend to tell myself to enjoy the peace. It's not bad, everyone needs peace throughout the day.

Or just learn to appreciate silence.

My problem isn't keeping the conversation going but keeping it meaningful enough to where someone would want to talk to me again.

Like:
How was your weekend?
What are you going to do this afternon?
Will you do some traveling this summer?
How is highschool going? Do you have any exams? Is the teacher boring?
Have you watched any movie/serie recently? Or a book, or a drawing...

At least it works for me! Then it all flows naturally.

Okay, but how do you make yourself interested? Because almost nothing anyone says is interesting to me. I don't care about the details of their life. I think I'm just meant to be alone, I don't know how to care about anything. In fact, this just made me realize I don't really want to be alive at all. I'm bored of everything, and just wasting time until death.

Coming back a year later to say that this specific video genuinely helped me become a better listener and conversationalist.

I just ask them random weird questions

"So, you want to break the silence, or should I?" - is one I like to use. It has also worked, on occasion, saying something like "You ever just sober up mid convo and forget how to socialize?"
