How To Make Your Phone Unhackable

Video Overview & Insights

Your phone is the biggest threat to your privacy. If someone’s trying to hack you, surveil you or use your data against you, you’ll need different types of security. Josh Long, our privacy expert, has spent years learning the best high tech tools and techniques to take back control.

it's very easy to get to the shore of the sea or lake and throw the cell phone as far away as possible, and then the cia and the fbi and other legalized organizations for the protection of rich criminals listen in on how the fish breathe. that's what you do. and so does a smart watch and everything that exists electronically. but absolutely everything so let them figure out how to control it

Would LineageOS be more secure than the outdated version of OxygenOS on my Oneplus? Been thinking of installing it, already tried whether or not my banking apps work and they do.

The string pins are supposed to eliminate the higher costs of pin resetting equipment which is getting harder to maintain. You would think it would be cheaper to play.

...unless that update suddenly gives google more control over your phone. the other day they updated my apps forcibly, despite having auto update off. in fact, they turned auto update on for everything this even deleted app data on my phone.

Then an update may come that locks you out without being forced to hand over sensitive information.

Always put phone in airplane mode if not actively speaking to someone on phone. Always turn phone OFF if not online. Always download everything to local for local use before travelling. NEVER USE THE CLOUD FOR ANYTHING!. These are my four biggies.

If you're going to a protest don't take your phone with you or use a burner if you really must have a phone. Apart from anything else you don't really want some uniformed thug wrecking an expensive item. If you want it for the camera use a cheap digicam with a removeable sd card, preferably a micro sd as they're easier to hide...a bit of cling film comes in handy at this juncture, and maybe some fluid to aid ingestion...after all they love checking up your arse so just swallow and watch your poop. Or simply live stream or send all images to remote storage if you have that facility.

3:03 US required all navigation apps/devices sold in the US to use on-line routing only after 9/11. I.e. all routing data globally was (still mostly is) sent to a certain location in Middlewest next to a US military site that operated drones. I got customer request about strange data traffic to the US and that was end result of my study. Within six months the AAA records and Google maps was scrubbed on this partucular data center. You could see it under thr blur if you knew what to look for. AAA records directed to a proxy location nearer to east coast. This was before 2010.

Still not right that "people" hack your private life.. they are breaching people's rights . The phone should alert itself if someone is doing that and direct to notify the police authority and track immediately who's hacking or phishing someone else's phone. Because it is not right at all..

Absolute bollocks fella. The only way is to have a non ios or android phone. I have a librem5 with a debian based pure os system as my main phone. I downloaded waydroid GAPPS to get the vpn and secure email server. I do not use any social media on this mobile and use threema as a messenger tool.

Interesting stuff; many thanks. 👍
However, to the best of my knowledge, in the UK you are not obliged to unlock your phone on demand by anyone; they have to obtain a Notice under RIPA -effectively a digital search warrant that should place the same requirements of 'reasonable grounds' on the Applicant as a search warrant for your property. Please correct if I'm wrong! 🙂

This is all good information, but what are people doing on their phone that would cause people to want this? I just don't do much on my phone. I don't want to. Banking on a phone is dangerous. No idea what else people do.

How do you install a duress pin? I cant find it online. Please do a video on this!

Well yeah, all good n stuff but why you did worked with the government n leaked user data? Like, come on. How serious are those tips when you obviously log data n work with the governments, you try to warn us from? Lool. By the way, from a demonstrant...

@perspectiveandthinking
@

Duress mode? Doesn't come with any major carrier OS. You'll be restricted to a rare few OS choices. Sadly.

@lyfandeth
@

Install updates? Sadly, they are often NOT simple security updates. The bundle often forces OS changes and app changes and resets apps back to default modes--which you may not want.

@lyfandeth
@

Backup my device? To what trusted cloud storage? None of the major vendors are irinclad.

Great advice. Thank you. For me, I leave the stupid device @ home. I do not need it. There are plenty of cameras everywhere in case you are in an accident. Plus, almost all new vehicles have a gps tracking on them already, so they know where you are at.

Every update is a advanced version of corporate Spyware. The same corporations that are owned by very wealthy terrorist that control the government with puppets and people economic terror. Corporations making these types of phones for their own surveillance and power is the real threat.

@oddopted

Stage 2.
Turn phone off after a stipulated time?
This is a misleading statement.
When you say “Turns Off Your Device” do you mean actually turning it off? Maybe you’re device just his to sleep and a tap or a button press will wake it up.

I will never have my phone turned on if a cop is involved in any way. Everything I need is physical and driving normally keeps them away as much as possible
