I had to cheat though...i have an old cottage which had a smaller height door - they don't make anything near it so I bought the normal size, cut it to length then glued the batons back in top and bottom which I'd cut off

R random question if anyone could answer for me. Ive never fitted a door . Why do you measure the frame and not the old door its self?

We have an old house and nothing is straight
@lesleywatson2872No leading edge
@Steven-m1c5oFor some reason I didn’t watch this video before butchering my door frames today! A simple swap of the door from one side to the other turned into me mishandling some chisels for the first time and ending up with a swapped door that is only shuttable by force 😂 Haven’t even touched the latch/lock because I feel like I condemned enough wood today
@plaguebearermetalHow about a new gate. If you want to use my house that needs a lot of diy for the show😊
@annieb3781Mate thank you what a brilliant video!
@joshuaelliot2020Always a fantastic job. 10/10
Quality videos as always.
Want to come hang all my doors? 😂
You are amazing by the way. Tomorrow I have to start fitting some doors and will see your guide again. THANKS
@santonelladada19860Unfortunately there are door frames from old council houses whit 1600 height and there are not fire doors close to that... And landlords don't wanna spend money to get FULLY fire doors..shame
@santonelladada19860Thank you
@TogetherWithchrist-l9vgreat tutorial on changing an old door with a new one without removing the old door frame. Thanks for taking the time
@VerifyITI guess that door is still to be finished, if you have a prefinished door would you put tape on the surface when marking location of strike plate and hinges?
@noelmurphy8092now barge the lathe.
@BoatingMarketPlacegot quoted £550 to fit my doors in, thanks to this video I did it myself
@RTMgi9I've got three new internal doors to hang, this has made it much easier, thanks.
@randombloke8802You are defo from Norfolk lol
@matthollis4009We have tried to hang a door (have done this before without issue), but there is severe hinge “bind”. WHY??? We’ve tried everything and can’t alleviate this problem. Help!
@glocarroCould you fit the door the other side of the frame ? So hinges are fitted on the opposite side so door opens the other way into the room , if so do you recommend a strong wood filler that can be drilled into to fill the holes
@Ol13895Winbags are awesome! Great tip.
@mikekeim6276I imagine wedges\axe heads etc could been used in lieu of air 🛍️..p.s. would this be a nightmare if the Frame wasn't square?
@boofulsWell done top notch 👍
@mokranehamane9249Old school tip use a old pound coin and put at the bottom of the door instead.
@michaeldurham2751i do not understand why you did the three milllimetre cutting guide from the other side. Doesnt this mean it will nolonger press against the door frame and be free to swing through? Don't get it.
@johnparker4366Thank you very much 👌🍺
@tomscubesandgamesi dont know why i watched this i need to build a shed door not a house door but hey here we are.
@DigUrOwnHoleAny tips for keeping the latch hole drilling parallel with the door and not risking breaking through the face? Especially on a fire door where the door is a bit more solid.
@dirtjumper23Well done video. Thanks
@DMcF-o8oBrilliant vid as ever, but half of 72mm definitely isn't 38mm...😜
@davewalkden7248Top man! I bodged a new door today into an old frame... I did it eventually using the old hinges, which now I'm more enlightened about fixed leaf and open leaf.
I'll save your tutorial for future reference and the tools I should have for a proper job.
Much appreciated thank you👏 ❤
That's quite an easy frame . Slightly different when the frame is 15mm out of plumb and the top ats 10 degrees
@garybardrick311I wish you had uploaded this last week!! I've hung my first ever 5 doors this week learning something as I go!
@narayan999Thank you! Im a software developer who does some DIY in my spare time. I just hung a bathroom door perfectly from your tutorial. You're an excellent teacher!
@ma11achyYou are amazing
Thank you but still a lot to do
Ps: great tats!
I need the weing bag
@PhilipMokwena-k4bWith the strike plate sometimes the old screw holes are too big, what I do is either get some matchsticks or the off cuts of the door, put these into the old holes and hey presto screws fit 😊
@stuwba68Amazing video! Followed this to the letter and managed to hang a door into the most crooked door framed ever. Thanks for the advice 👍🏼
@wildboarmOne of my favourite channels to watch on YouTube, always clearly explained, you've helped me loads, thanks, 👍
@JayontheFazeThe mother in law asked if I could hang her some new doors from scratch and I was unsure how to do a new latch until now so thanks very much
@paulyardley695Excellent video, I'm now 100% sure I'll get a carpenter in and not do it myself.
@Octane_ForEVerNice work. What's the going rate per door?
@jackjonesy9232Time to call a door-fitter 😂
@arodenStep 1, buy door.
Step 2, buy $400 worth of tools.
Step 3, forget step 2 and pay somebody else to do it whos got the tools 🤪
Ffs really?
