Im completely new to taming a corn snake, in fact I actually get concerned as to how long he stays under the substrate. Its been a week now, and I had fed him only when I was away. Updates on finally handling him will come.

So what if I made a lot of mistakes some of the ones you told is not to do like number one I got my cornfield Snake home and I held I think it was fresh. It was surfing glass but crazy. I put my hand out and it went directly on my hand and let me hold it so I have not fed him yet. He’s supposed to get paid Wednesday is normally one of the people I got them from so do I still supposed to wait a week?

I just got a baby cornsnake a week ago and my fiance picked up her hide and when i tried to put it back i accidentally dropped it on her and i feel so bad. This is my first snake

I got my baby corn snake about a week now and i'm super afraid to hurt him. He eats fine, so yay on that part. This video is great even though picking him up is scary

I have a little guy right now, not sure how old but it’s maybe a foot long or so, still well under a year to my knowledge. I’ve found that when I go in to handle him (maybe him) I usually give him a few little strokes with my finger rather than going straight for a grab or scoop, and he seems to do well most times, occasionally tries to take off when I do pull him out but generally goes back to calmly exploring my hands once I’ve got him close to me. I’m pretty sure mine is a snow morph, it’s a very pale base with the yellowish-tan tessera pattern.

On that topic, a big thing that seems to be left out of most corn snake care guides is the slightly specialized treatment that albinos require. Their sensitivity to light will make them more likely to hide more often, which can be a bit jarring for them when so frequently being taken from hides for handling. On that same note, less intense enclosure lights can be helpful. I use strictly non-light emitting heaters (deep heat projector and ceramic heaters) and ambient room light. This heat without intense light has made a big difference for my snake and the baby fire corn snake I take care of at work, in terms of temperament during handling.

Im struggling with my corn snake, hes ate perfectly, temps are good. Im not sure how often his previous owner held him ( im also comparing him to my ball pythons lol), i have been touching him while hes in his tank. But as soon as i go to pick him up he freaks out :( tips!?!?

I can never get my corn snake as soon as I walk up his enclosure he takes off really fast and hides i held him once and it went good but now I cant get ahold of him it takes me to long to get the enclosure open any advise hes been here 2 weeks and eats good

So, I have nine corns. Three of them are adults, and the other six are their babys that hatched last week. I avoid handling them, three of them haven‘t even shed and eaten yet. I took one out because I had to clean its enclosure, and it bit me, hissed at me and acted like a rattlenake😂 But my adults are kind of chill, two of them have also bitten me a few times, but the third one is the most chill snake I‘ve ever seen. I‘ve been having her since May, and she has never bitten me or did the runner or anything else. I take every of my snakes (exept the babys) out of their enclosure to feed them, because they live in threes in an enclosure and I want to avoid food envy. After feeding, I have to take them back in, and the chill one is just chilling out, but the other two are always spicy and try to bite me, so I put the lid of the feeding box between my hand and the snake‘s head, so they can‘t bite me. When they are on my arm, they are also just chilling out. My male corn has bitten me last month while I was watering the plants in their enclosure, and I put him under running water, until he finally let go. He literally tried to eat my finger, like half of my finger was gone in his mouth. Luckily, my dad helped me. He is a very big guy, so it kinda hurt, and I‘ve cried a little while he was trying to eat me😂 But my finger is good, he is good and that’s the main thing. Tomorrow I will try to take my chill one out and chill around a little with her, because I have never done that, even though she’s so friendly and not stressed at all. I think her previous owner has done that a lot cuz she‘s so well behaved.

I got my juvenile corn snake, Mously, about 2 and half months ago. I have been slowly trying to handle him. i had been starting to just have my hand in his tank, and he could explore it and get used to me. I usually wait 2 days to do this after i feed him. I usually dont do it the day before i feed him, but today, i did, and he bit me. Idk if that's the reason he bit me or if he has started thinking my hand is food. I feed him with tongs. Also, my tank is one where the lid is just the top(when i get him a bigger one, i want to get one that side opens). When im opening the tank to feed him, i tap 5 times on his tank, and when im not feeding him i tap 3. Im thinking maybe i should start tapping the tongs together instead before i feed him? If i do that, should i still tap before opening it for non feeding things? I really want to be able to hold him, but after he bit me, idk how to fix it and be able to progress normally now. If you have tips or anything, i would really appreciate it:)

I just got my first ever corn snake last month! He ate straight away when i got him, and is a healthy adult male. Though he is very shy to handling, panicking a bit when someone goes to pick him up before relaxing off a bit, but im pretty sure he is a runner to. Ive not handled him much as i dont wanna stress him out but sometimes it feels like hes just not a snake who enjoys much interaction, but he is confident moving arpund his tank and knows its his safe place.

This video has helped me understand a few more behaviours, and hopefully i can handle him much better soon.

Man, my corn snake is with me for arround a month now, got him with 9/10 months and he was just hiding for like 3 weeks, after that time he showed up in shed, did a complete shed and I understood why he was hiding so much. Tried to feed him the next day, and he took it. After that he hide digesting these couple of days and I tried to handle him today for the first time... He just tried to flee all the way, he was in a hide, I exposed him and tried to handle, he ran to the other side of the enclosure. I tried a second time touched him gently in the back part but it just made him go faster to hide. No attacks no nothing, just fear I guess... As it is my first pet snake, Im kinda clueless on how to proceed to create a good relation with him.. If anyone has some advice or tips to share, I would appreciate that :)

We adopted our friend’s corn snake who had been handled a lot and always been very happy, never struck or attempted to, but in the last 6 months she hadn’t been handled so often. She has her same vivarium as they had her in. I’ve picked her up on the first week and she’s seemed really nervous (I don’t think my nerves helped as I’m getting used to her) and then disappeared off into her hide afterwards. I now think I should have left her for a good week and after her first feed with me. Would you just start over and give her a week from now to resettle?
Really keen to get off to the right start with her :)

I have a young corn snake but have had her for about 6 months. When I handle her she is defensive and strikey in the enclosure. Once out she calms down and it's if I'm a challenge getting her out to work with her. Any advice?

I have a baby corn snake and I’ve been having trouble getting him to like handling he’s not defensive but anytime I pick him up he tries to launch himself out of my hands and I’ve been working with him for two weeks and still is very jumpy when touched. Any suggestions?

I have ball pythons, a Mexican black king snake, a Kenyan Sand Boa, & four hognose's. I am wanting to get a woma python & I am trying to educate myself on substrate for the woma. I would like to do a bioactive set up as I watched a video that a lady said she uses organic top soil & non toxic play sand mixed together. I am not sure if you know this, but while I was looking online I couldn't really find organic top soil that would be good. Do you know of any that would be good for a woma python???
