I've been growing very successfully since last October and never had a germination issue or dampening off.
This girl I switched to bootstrap farmer trays and the heavier 16x8 pavers and almost my entire grow I had to dump.... Kohlrabi, mustard, broccoli, daikon radish even affected...brassicas too. Should I not have used that heavy weight on those? When I was growing successfully I was only putting weights on radish peas and sunflowers but since watching some videos on YouTube that I could increase my yield but it did the opposite. Help!

Do you Blackout your Microgreens?
More User Perspectives
To be honest, I am seeing this type of green $$$ when it comes to fodder and microgreens (mg).
I would like to get my family started in both Fodder and microgreens in the Philippines.
Lets say we cannot sell 300 pounds of microgreens to a restaurant. Could that batch be sold as fodder to cattle as feed? I'm going to say yes, because it seems Plausible.
Cattle Feed in the philippines is very expensive. There are peoples growing fodder and microgreens but not enough of it to get the cost down.
Most of the cattle industry is private backyard farmers throughout the county.
I would loke to get involved into this and dominate (to a point) the feed industry somehow and to sell mg to whomever will buy.
Truthfully, what yhe heck are microgreens? Is this a new made up word for something else? Like instead of blind we now say Visually impaired.
Are microgreens another way of saying sprouts?
the water you use is RO? do you use any fertilizer? Cheers nice videos.
@Mago198Where do you get your seeds?
@zina1223Donny, what do you do with the spoils after you harvest your greens? The soil and roots remaining in the tray that is. By the way, great work ... our family really enjoyed it.
@jonathanearp193Do you have a link to the soil you use for growing microgreens?
@brandonfranklin176Thank you so much for all the info, great content !
I want to start a small microgreens business in France, but the racks you use are very difficult to find!

@XplorSpaceDo you do a dark period of 1-2 days? I have seen other farms do this but unsure if it's necessary or depends? I don't know.

@PattiWilke-jo7cxWhat kind of lights, how many watts, how much temperature or humidity inside is needed
@buntwantNo blackout after germination?
@GoFishingOrGoHomeStep-by-step guide to growing microgreens indoors:
Prepare tray sets by placing a tray with holes inside a tray without holes.
Fill the tray set with your preferred growing medium (e.g., perlite and peat moss mix).
Spread the soil evenly without pressing down.
Press down the soil using a soil press or another tray to create a flat surface for seeds.
Spread seeds evenly across the tray and press them down for good soil contact. Soak larger seeds (e.g., sunflower or pea) beforehand.
Mist the tray heavily to provide enough water for germination and the initial growth phase.
Stack trays and add weight on top to keep seeds in the dark and improve moisture retention.
After a few days, once plants start pushing up the weighted tray, move the germinated trays under a grow light and give them their first watering.
Water microgreens daily in the morning.
When leaves develop a canopy, switch to bottom watering by adding water between the trays.
After about another week (depending on the variety), harvest the fully grown microgreens with a knife and enjoy.
