@YouTube_stole_my_handleWhat worked for me as a starting point was just deleting Facebook, Twitter and Reddit from the phone, signing off the accounts from the browser, and installing either RVX (then Morphe) on the phone, which let me hide YouTube Shorts.
Sometimes the urge to lose time is too strong, but if it requires overcoming a minor inconvenience, I find myself just not doing it. It's like a how crocodiles have a very strong bite, but they don't have the same strength to open it, so you can keep it shut with two fingers.
As I don't own a phone, do I need to buy a phone to effectively not use it?

@FutureSelfOfficialCouldn't finish a 10min video because of the product placement and advertisements in the video, then a quick youtube ad break, then back to the visual assault of the video. Flashbang of overstimulation lead to an offensive experience. I hate those products now. Irritated on sight.
