How to Dominate Football Trading with the Goal Digger Strategy on Betfair

I’ve been trying out the Goal Digger strategy myself, and what I like is how it keeps things structured without overcomplicating the process. To get better timing on trades, especially in-play, I’ve been using VOdds alongside it. It shows live Asian lines and odds across different books, which helps me decide when to enter or exit. Not essential, but if you’re layering strategies or trading actively during matches, having something like VOdds in the mix can make things smoother.

If you’re thinking about trying the Goal Digger strategy, it works best on exchanges like Betfair where you can lay and trade live. One way to access Betfair markets easily is through VOdds. Do you recommend using the newer Sports IQ filter of goals (L8) rather than just goals. It gives an extra 1400 games but is 84% strike rate. As an aside, when in the 80's do you prefer the higher strike rate or more games

I use this strategy and have great success with it. Just one question. Every time I see this type of video. The person always lays against Under 1.5 instead of backing Over 1.5. Just wondering why this is the case? I can understand if you’re laying the draw or something. However just find it strange why so many people would choose to not just back the outcome they want and instead lay against the alternative, unless it gives you an advantage somehow. Am I missing something?

It pays a lot more if you back 1-1 2-0 and 0-2 after 60 mins cash out when you land on a score or clear the red and stay in on that score line

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the failure % in the 50% traded example should be higher than in the 100%, because in a 0-0, the U1.5 odds will always have decayed to 3.0? I think you need to rerun the filter with an additional 'finished 0-0' element to see how many of the 957 finished goalless (call that number X). Then your 50% traded failure number will be ((478 - X) x 11.2%) + X.

isnt the odds on O1.5 around evens by HT? this is essentially the bet right? ie you have to wait near HT, oh i see the odds are actually 1.5 not 2.0 in decimal

The one thing that I would add here is be sure to check that the key players for each team are starting or on the bench. Other than that, this looks a solid strategy, so thanks for the video.

Good work, I like this strategy, could you look at removing liability after the first goal goes in? What would be the calculation to do this thanks

I wish that spreadshet was in the tool tbh

Would you take a smaller loss if for example no goals had been scored by 75 minutes or do we just let this trade ride?

@thebottomlesshole8338
@

You are making a big assumption there that 50% of the games remain tradable after 30 minutes.

According to my data - you will loose 65% of the games after 30 minutes, while of course the 0-0 losses remain there. I am not also sure if you have taken in consideration the 1-0 / 0-1 scores - the only goal scored after 30 minutes of course. These are also loses if you don't green up - of course depending on the timing of the goal!

Another assumption, these filters will pick up high scoring games, so for sure some games won't reach the 3.0 odds by the 30 minute. So you will loose more potential winners. It still ends up with some profit according to my data but it is very tight.

Do you do high reward to risk strategies where the profit is much larger than the loss despite win rate being around less than 50%..

Hi there agaig. Great strat. I have a quick question : why didn't you included Estonian A league ? :D It was there besides Danish ones. xD and one more. What if the odds get in desired range only at the end of first half, or even later, do we still trade? I did yesterday. was good :Dty in advance

Good video - can I ask why you haven't included commission when calculating your total profit for each scenario? Your profit per winning trade in your examples is £98 not £100. Doesn't change things massively on your small sample size (negligible difference in ROI) but over time it certainly does - just surprised you didn't include it and curious as to why?

The odds for Man U vs Bre. are not correct? How it could be for over 1.5 1.43 the real odds is 1.18

re-created on CGMBet and it doesn't actually work out when checking for all the games fitting these specs that remain 0-0 after 25 minutes. Would have a strike rate of +1.5 goals of around 65% - which roughly translates as break even lay odds of 3.0

@adrianbusuttil3012

Great video, once you get selections from siq.. can you place a keep bet on lay o1.5 at 3 so you dont need to be monitoring the game?

@Chchchyep

Hi James i was watching your video and noticed you commented on the risk reward being 2/1. I am sure you have that the wrong way round. Its 1/2... your risking 200 to win 100... and looking at your 1st excel sheet your figures suggest that you only lose 12% of the matches... that's is a very healthy return i would be more interested to see the data for the matches rather than the wins and losses. And i would be very interested to see all the matches that were generated by the software that finished with over 1.5 goals irrespective of when the goals were scored to see what percentage of those games finished over 1.5 goals.

Your supposed calculation of only retaining 50% of the results because of early goals is not entirely fair because the results obtained since the backtest are over a period of 90 minutes.

It is not certain that we will have the same success rate when returning after the 25/30th minute (rating of 3).

@piloo0685
@

You from Wigan mate?

@nofearjustlove1508
@

Your backtest does not take into account that it must still be 0-0 after about 30-35 minutes! The success rate is then significantly worse.

Brilliant James! Love the simplicity of this. I've been trying to find an angle on O1.5 goals since I started trading, but I've been legging in and backing instead of laying. Had moderate success but it's been bloody hard work! Angles like this are the reason you are a pro and I'm not. Hats off to you and the team at TTM for unselfishly sharing stuff like this. #Legends. My only disappointment in the video is you didn't try to pronounce Sonderjyske v Nordsjaelland 🤣🤣

@Bibbs612
@

Beckhams todger! So why lay U1.5 @3.0 instead of back O1.5 @1.5 odds? Isn't there usually more money available on the shorter priced side of the market?
