how to do shadow work

Video Overview & Insights

There is no better feeling than accepting and loving something that previously ruled your life because you were deeply ashamed of it.

Real shadow work is ancient, mythic, alchemical. It has nothing to do with becoming better, or more positive. It is about loving yourself with every perceived imperfection and eventually realizing it is your greatest strength.

Not the TikTok version lol

I'm so happy I found your video! Thank You so much

There are a few right and wrongs that go beyond individuals and society. A minorty can win a case on principle even if the majority votes no. A majorites actions have nothing to do with right and wrong.

But my biggest issue IS being broke, how do i turn that into a positive or ‘theatrical’

Really love the beach ball metaphor — so perfect. The grotesque side of the god figure made me think of Mr World in American Gods when his face became fractal.

I cant believe you have 3 videos. I started this video a few days ago and haven't finished it because it is so well spoke, and so.. based. I'm sorry my vocabulary is not coming to me lmao.
And I really want to liiiisten when I watch it with every cell in my body. Even so the biggest thing that sticks with me is when you talk about duality, which is something I have been unfamiliar with. This is an incredibly informative video! You're awesome and I am subscribing!!

Giving in to evil is immature look in the mirror are you as mature as you should be? If you don’t stand firm and try to purge evil you become very sick everyone who does shadow work is sick!

I don’t really subscribe to duality, but I do subscribe to non-duality the idea that we are an inseparable whole, which I think was sort of the point of this video. I LOVE shadow work. We coexist with good bad neutral and every thought in between. Accepting this oneness within ourselves and the entire experience can allow ourselves the freedom to accept or challenge our own limiting beliefs around our morals, our desires, our avoidance, judgments and fears etc. Accepting that while archetypes and duality and binary can aid in our society, by creating a separation between people it makes it easier to control ourselves, outcomes, or others controlling us for our differences constantly. Judging ourselves based on a black-and-white good or evil scenario with every thought that we have is not helpful. Shadow work is important and understanding the whole of your personality does not make you evil just as all of the good things you do does not make you good. You are just simply are existing. you can see how these constructs are currently accepted. Societal behaviours can differ across different cultures based on these moral teachings kind of like how some societies have more collectives versus individualistic tendencies. You see still within the individualistic places there is this oneness with in that culture because everybody believes the same things inherently. Only by accepting this one and interconnectedness can you realize that you are part of a larger zeitgeist, and even more you can zoom out and see your part of another larger group of all humans with a completely different perspective on our planet, then say animals or microorganisms, etc., etc., and realize that we are all existing together.

I didnt think this was a thing, shadow work, I just saw every bad thing happening in my life, every mistake or dissapointed as something that HAD to happen for me to become the best version of myself in the future. And i got to this as i love who i am and i realize that if i didnt do the mistakes i did or went through the unpleasent things that i did in the past, i would probsbly be a whole different person, different circle, different mind. So i just accept the things i dont like, being sad about it or upset, because i know it will lead to where i need to be eventualy. Idk how much these correlate, idk if what i accept is shadow self or not, but this made me think of this.

I don't agree with the belief system, but it is interesting and can even be a very useful tool or way of perceiving. For context, a little bit about me: I have a subtype of OCD called Pure OCD. I'm also a people pleaser and am possessed by a negative entity known as an incubus. I'm 36 yrs o now but before I discovered all this about myself it was a nightmare and a living hell. Dolores Cannon and the teachings of Bashar really helped me out which are contradictory to your belief system here. He teaches that energies are a trinity. Positive, neutral, and negative and that its 51% positive and 49% negative. He says there is no hell or demons but that there are negative entities. He also says there are spirits and such and that there is such a thing as spirit attachments. I also subscribe to Rachel Stavis teachings about negative entities and her book Sister of Darkness. She sees negative entities and exorcises them as a witch. I'm currently exploring my inner demons and shadow selves and am trying to practice what we call in the ocd community exposure response therapy. Which is basically the same thing you teach here in this video. Thanks for the video. It's food for thought and I will definitely keep it in mind for future reference as I explore more of myself and my inner shadows and demons.

seems to me like you're saying it's easier to accept something that we can't control. possibly because controlling it or keeping it locked in a cage is impossible. shouldn't the bad parts of us be suppressed?? or does that lead to psychosis??

This video has an amazing way of explaining shadow work. I never knew how vauge my understanding of it was. Because of this video I learned a lot about myself. The name I gave my shadow self is "Bitch" 😂😂 I know there's still things to work on. I still haven't found my outlets but I know I will. Thank u💙

I wasn't sure at first but I continued on with your video. Been on the spiritual journey for many years. Shadow work has interested me for a while. You explained things in an easy to follow manner. I did a double take a couple of times but you made some points I could relate too. Maybe it's time for me to embrace the parts of me I'm not too proud of. The new agers will have you believe we chose our current life before we come to earth to learn so yeah I enjoyed what you had to say.

@warwickdoolan6227

Strongly disagree.

Shadow work has been greatly distorted by new age spirituality and online communities.

It’s literally captured in the metaphor. Shadow is wherever there is no light. Shadow is unconsciousness, light is consciousness. Shadow “work” is not the process of ‘becoming’ your shadows, it’s the process of shedding light on shadows. It’s not making yourself into what’s hidden in the shadows, it’s simply the process of making LESS shadows, not more, because the shadows are being illuminated through the process.

It’s not about becoming your darkness - it’s the equivalent of going into the attic with a flashlight to uncover what is hidden. It does not tell us HOW to relate to the uncovered material, and this seemingly small oversight is actually massive. And can lead to a lot of misstepping.

Look at the primary material. ‘Integration’, represented integration into what? Not behaviour. It was integration from unconscious into conscious. Therefore the medium was integration into awareness, not integration into behaviour. Perhaps separately integration into behaviour should be done, but that is not the task of shadow work.

‘Ownership’ does not mean simply becoming what is uncovered in the shadow. It doesn’t mean NOT becoming what is uncovered either. Disownership is denial of a part being in you, which creates the denial, and casting out of awareness into shadow. Ownership is simply the acceptance of a part being in you. Do not overstep this into it becoming it. It’s still just a part of you. Ownership does mean embracing those parts, but it doesn’t mean they are okay or even socially cohesive. It’s a self acknowledgement. It doesn’t even mean it’s your truer self. Most of the time disowned parts were themselves FORMULATED complexes, that can be deconstructed.
If they are in shadow, thats no good.

Bringing shadows into the light just gives us the capacity to look at it head on. At that point we can decide how to relate to the material in a clear-headed way. In shadow it’s all unclear and possessive, which is the problem.

There’s so many today who are mystifying the process, when the whole point is quite literally the opposite: clarification.

Jung doesn't think "bad" or "good" is a thing. The shadow isnt "bad", its there to protect you. We are all humans, capabale of nuance. By recognizing that, we can hold ourselves accountable and be more intentional
