How the Hinge Algorithm ACTUALLY Works (and how to beat it)

I find it interesting that Hinge has exploded NOW...like 10+ years down the line...none was on Hinge when I used it back then...so I quit using it...and I have also spent money on every dating site...only met two people during my 7 years of trying out dating apps, dating coaches, and so forth...the only thing that works is that you get lucky, while staying carefree, and just having fun for yourself...and NOT take it seriously. I have had crazy conversations, and some nice phonecalls, and some not so nice...like literally being threaten to life, scammed, hated on and so forth...so nowadays, I feel like meeting someone in person...but...not forced...cause it just feels wrong to approach...have done it before and bumped into those that call themselves lesbian, just to say no...without saying no. I have turned bitter now, and only try to focus on my own hobbies, while I see potential, after potential come by and leave...it is kinda sad in a way...but in another way...I feel like there are better people in the future that I will meet...but by then...I will be older...and 35 is ticking in closer and closer.

You're saying all of this, but wouldn't it be in these apps best interest to keep edging you so you keep your subscription so you always feel like you're close enough to not needing it?

If it's so hard to get a match, the apps will lose clients. I don't think the system is that complex. I've been with multiple women that I met through Dating Apps. The secret is this: Be confident. You're not begging. They're lucky if they get you.

Yeah this app is so weird. I feel that I’ve been Shadowbanned before. One time I made an account with 6 decent pics and I got 99+ matches in an hour. Used it for a few days and then deleted it. A day later I made a new account with the same 6 photos and got like 3 matches in 2 days. So weird

This is overly complicated, society really needs to go back to the 1960's - 1970's way of dating and early 2000's life in general, it seriously should be revived, until then its all screwed.

Just don't install Hinge, or delete and uninstall it.

Forget cold approach, it gives her chances to play head games in person.

As a woman who uses Hinge, this has been an interesting video! I didn't know that's how the algorithm works. I see a lot of really bad photos and profiles. Some of them could be interesting people in person and I agree with what you said, that's why it's better to meet when you're out. I'm a 46-year-old widower. My wife was killed 2 years ago and unfortunately a year before her passing, she convinced me to leave our home in LA (Pasadena to be exact) and move to Wisconsin to be near her family. I gave up all my friends, my amazing job and sold my home. I did this for her and as long as I was with her, I could have been happy here. The problem is, jobs at my level and salary range (high end executive, 170K salary) are being phased out in favor of paying idiots 70K instead. Since I have a very good job here and sold my home in LA, I'm basically trapped here for the foreseeable future. I'm ready to try dating again but needless to say the quality of women in Wisconsin is garbage level compared to that of LA. I also want to date someone younger, successful and well-educated like my wife was. She was 15 years younger than me and didn't need me for financial support, plus she was stunning (5' 9", size O). I have only ever done Match.com and it wouldn't let me look more than 10 years younger than me and was told its' algorithm would almost exclusively show my profile to women within 5 years of my age. Does Hinge or another app let me skew younger? Can I emphasize I do not want someone older than me and prefer someone under 40? Will I look like a creep for doing this. For frame of reference, I may be 46 but look younger. I'm also 6' 6" and a very jacked 245-250 lbs. I'd rate my face an 8 and my body damn near close to a 10 so I can attract younger women. IRL in Wisconsin is damn near impossible. For some reason women here that I would rate 3s, 4s, and 5s think they are 8s, 9s and 10s. All my friends are back in LA. Ive got 2 matches a day on this app with no premium. I would rank my profile as mid and i dont get so many likes but with the 10 swipes for free a day i get at least two matches. I maximized the rizz game through chat with AI. The AI helped me out, cus woman are first replying very dry and with AI it helps me to figure out what to write next, cus i need some input to output a good text. At this point AI was a gamechanger. The reply ratio was after a few days too much and i had to sort out matches.

In my opinion, most of your arguments are good, but you missed a key point : you gotta pay Hinge X since 2025 to see results. Don't forget these apps are owned by MatchGroup. And in the past couple years that company had insane financial losses (Hinge being kinda fair was one of the reasons).

So, in 2025 Hinge updated their app to prioritize paying male customers. As an example, from 2023 to early 2025 I had no issue getting 2-3 matches a week on a free account, but since the 2025 update I haven't gotten a single match.

In other words, you could have an amazing profile, but it won't matter unless you pay HingeX. It's "pay to have the same chance you used to have" basically. That's when I tuned out.

So unless paying to gamble your time and self-esteem away is chump change for you, just touch some grass and meet people outside while doing things you love.

They have an insane ban policy and I hate it. I don't even know why I was banned originally, but they're so good at finding out you made a new account and they ban you for that. I'm locked out of probably the best actual love finder app all because of a stupid algorithm and a horrible human support system
