With gen 5 i never noticed that it was only gen 5 pokemon till after. I was 12 so maybe that's a factor idk. Odd though. I did get bored of pokemon after that one and maybe sub consciously this was why

I was just happy with how the game played and building a new team. I still have some of the most fond memories with those games, and I even owned both copies, whereas for every other gen, I've mostly only gotten 1 of them.

Gen 1 is my favorite and of course the most legendary, but gen 3 and 4 are the ones that weren't already out by the time I got into it. The hype for them was huge, 4 especially considering it stacked with my hype for the DS/Wii gimmicks, it felt like the future. I consider myself very fortunate to have caught this very cool window in Pokemon/Nintendo history in my childhood.

honestly, Im sad Gen5 was so poorly received because it showed right off the bat with Gen 6 onward that they learned that dark lesson. It's been downhill slop ever since. Every generation has been just less and less quality. Gen 6 was pretty ok i guess, but it paled in comparison to the genuine effort they put into 5. But everyone froths over it, so of course, they learned the real lesson: Effort doesn't pay, slop does.

So if you ever lament the state of modern pokemon, especially with Legends ZA and Scarlet/Violet, and you think Gen5 sucked because you didn't get to use your favorite pokemanz from earlier gens? This is your fault. You taught Gamefreak this lesson.

I'm sorry but processing power had absolutely nothing to do with all the gen 4 sprites being animated. You have to remember all Pokémon battles are basically just a static background sprite and two Pokémon sprites with occasional effects for the attacks etc. Game Freak has never EVER used a system to it's full potential. If you look at any Pokémon game, there will be many games on the same system that push it far beyond what Pokémon does. The games have always been rushed.

First and second gen were meant to be the beginning and ending of Pokémon.

I seriously prefer the first pikachu, im playing a modded version of pokemon green and i really love it, its tails looks more like a raichu and love the sparks, but man!! Give me a Gorochuu!! Pikachu needs a third evolution, not pikachu the mascot but the line, or at least better stats. Im a raichu lover, it looked so menacing on the chapter where pika fights it with lt surge.
