Why do people in tech jobs talk about their salaries so much? I don’t talk about my annual income with anyone other than family and very close friends.

@abdulsaboor8506i want the details about ur first cv and first se job specifically i want the first resume of urs
@etimes2077Your calculations are erroneous in a few aspects. Use either annual or monthly numbers for all categories. Moreover, there's a lot more categories in the cost of living expenses. Lastly, please don't introduce assumptions. That's a big 👎
@UMS9695eek. Andrew Schulz is just not funny. Don't know what anyone would find appealing about that guy doing comedy. Regardless of politics
@midiminion6580Thanks Sahil❤it is very thoughtful❤
@almousafir4041My neighbor, who has been through several IPOs and has 8 digits assets in a single stock account, always claims his salary is 40k and is deep in debt. He drives a 2005 Toyota Sienna, marries a lady who loves him very much, has two kids going to the best private schools, and most importantly, nobody ever tries to borrow money from him. You have to be his neighbor for decades to know his companies and his positions, and you know how much money he has only if you accidentally overlook his phone screen when you enjoy BBQ with this dude.
@AsmobiaI wouldn’t gloss over the federal income tax piece of it. $300k in cash and property (stocks) gets taxed at $300k (on a progressive rate scheme) with only the cash portion available to pay those taxes. That, plus living expenses does make where you live a not insignificant part of how much you get to keep as savings. Plus, people who have vesting stock can choose to be taxed on it before it vests, which means that they might be paying taxes on stock they won’t get to actually keep if they leave before the stock vests.
@JB_HobbiesPlus, many struggle for months between salaried tech jobs, which needs to be taken into account..
@Sad_Bumper_StickerIt is interesting to hear that people lie about their salary only to be on the higher side. There are many who would lie to be on the lower side too so that they do not get attention.
@xxxx-tb4deSure but if you are older and not the exact AGE of the interview team you are REJECTED period. I was born TOO LATE to be accepted into the Google / Meta / Microsoft TRIBES
@moviestudiolandRestricted Stock Units are those "$300k, $200K" type pay people. If their stock prices were cut in say half it wouldn't be that high and yes if they have to live in high COLA areas that $200-300k isn't amazing.
@PacketWatchDogMeta is killing it on hiring OpenAI engineers now! $100 million salary with $20 million sign on bonus, access to Meta private jets, etc!😮 Making more than A list Hollywood actors or NFL top players now!😊
@Mr.HarryWildPlease 🙏🥺🙏 Bring Video What Is The Future Of Software Engineering 🥺 Is A Fresher Go To Software Engineering Field or Go With Ai/Ml Things 🥺 please 🙏🥺🙏 Bring Video
@Nikhil_414-w2vCan you please share your source of DSA,from where did you learn DSA brother
@software-life-24Good information 🎉Thanks
@jayakumarramachandran733On 7:21, you should change the saving and earning into per-month, instead of per-year. Or are you saying that 300K is per month salary ?
@bgdtf6745I wasn't expecting much from this past just simple info but this is some fine research!
@sifat9667As an IT professional working 15 years in Australia and more than 5 years in India, I never believed these street interviews. Most of these people are lying to look cool on camera.
@remyrey8034You will have to calculate net salary and not gross salary and calculate the monthly salary based on annual gross salary.
@saiganesh7932You are very correct on how people inflate their salaries. You also have to consider how mnay hours someone has to put in for their salary. I know of people who make really good money (from what they say) but also they have to work ridiculous amount of hours per week. No thanks.
@ReasoningBeanStartups really do pay shit compared to top tier, but it's remote & the interviews were a lot easier.
@Lion_McLionheadThat's what they put on their mortgage application 😂😂😂
@lvgl_beginnerBro why are you calculating rent and food as yearly 4k/yr rent 1k/yr food. Your math is way off 😂😂😂
@Momus123bhai naak se baat kyu kar raha hai?
@nk_0306"Salary" to me only means base salary. Counting anything beyond that is just ego embellishing. When people count anything different beyond that, it's like being a 5'8" guy and saying you're 6' tall lol.
@migo-migo9503Human software engineers are going going soon to be gone.
@gurujrI have always had a high salary but every time i get a raise, my property taxes, grocery expenses, and utility bills give themselves a raise too. I can’t get ahead it seems.
@rl8571Who else has noticed it's AI-generated?
@farhanlearnsHelpful
@Harthik20037:21 isn't it a major issue listing salary FOR A YEAR but listing rent FOR A MONTH and subtract them?
@pusabodhisattva2183Math works for bachelors. But for a family if they want to buy a house its tough. say a decent house cost around $2million. with 20%( 400k) downpayment.
Monthly principal+Interest+tax+insurance will be approx $13000.
Now add 2 cars. approx $2000/month.
Add daycare 2 kids: $4500/month.
food, utilities, healthcare etc: $3000/month.
miscellaneous(maintenace, travel, holiday, fines): $3000/month
total: $25000/month.
If Both make $300k thats great. single income no way.
This explains why tech companies were on a hiring spree (to boost their stock prices) and a having massive layoffs (to avoid stock vesting for all those new employees)
Sign-on bonuses usually match annual performance bonuses, so I think it makes sense to include it. I think I probably also misleading to avoid include stock compensation considering it's an metric to know when determining wealth and income gap. Plus most high eaners invest their after tax income into stocks anyway.
Everything is ok, but don't your sinsoidal tone is not comfortable.
@the_maur_scholarGreat detail. Thanks for the info.
@richardc215The saving comparison is not correct:
1) you are not considering the income tax
2) you showed TC not cash salary
3) expenses are monthly
Do the math and yes the Bay Area guy may be saving more, but it’s not much at all.
bro is an NPC
@nishantbhatkar55757:24 Did u actually just put annual salary vs monthly costs😂 bruhhh
@moby_rox7233Can you do a part 2 where
What if a person leaves?
What if you get laid off?
Do you lose all the stocks?
Do you have to pay back money?
Thank you for breaking the numbers and showing the truth
@hyakushiki23@7:25 you are showing annual salary and deducting monthly expense, what kind of math is this?
@ikram.shaikhMan people are making by building even they are into 9 to 5
@urAidailyThe bigger the pay rate the bigger the HR target. Fact
@AllHandlesHaveBeenTakenI mean listen, you called me poor in every way possible. I can't even find a proper job.
@growthneededhaha true 🙂
