How Lady Gaga changed music forever

Video Overview & Insights

When a then unknown singer by the name of Lady Gaga released her first album ‘the Fame’ in late 2008, who could’ve foreseen the indelible mark the young musician would leave on pop culture in the years to come (well maybe herself, she did say she wanted to be the future of music for the next 25 years, after all)!!!!

She's the total package 📦 😍 💕 ❤️ ☺️ 🎉🎉🎉😂😂❤❤❤❤

— @Shaftbell

Her arrival in the music industry was akin to a pop meteor hitting earth, that would transform the music landscape as we know it.

So just how did she make it happen? Who were the key people in her camp? Why wasn’t Akon’s rap used for 'Just Dance?' Which Swedish singer did RedOne model Gaga’s sound on? How did she meet RedOne in the first place? Who was instrumental in making her a priority artist? Why did Interscope think Gaga might be better kept behind-the-scenes instead of being out front as a music artist? Who were the key people on Gaga’s creative team?

Gaga is undoubtedly the last global superstar - anyone with good taste will fall in lover with her sooner or later.

— @theoutdoorlightsstore1441

How did the Pussycat Dolls and New Kids on the Block really feel about Gaga supporting them on tour? And what’s the truth about how Interscope broke Gaga in the music industry? This mini-documentary explores these questions and more.

11:33 ’The Fame’ Philosophy

Everything listed in the video does not enter under the frame of "changed the music forever." Because it is simply not true. I understand feeding the hype for the fans, which gives you views on the channel, but facts are facts. She might have given a trend with some crazy outfits, but that's it. And frankly, Grace Jones did it all before 20 years ago. Gaga is a good imitator of Madonna and other iconic artists, but she is nowhere near the fame and impact they had/have. The fans in this video are hilarious. You need a reality check.

Wow thanks for this vid. She was/is SO good.. people forget how great she is.. they aren't doing it like her anymore in pop.. it definitely feels like something is missing. She's such an inspiration 🌟Definitely helped shape who I was growing up 🙏

I’m not a fan, but it’s because of Gaga that we have Justin Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Bruno Mars, DJ Khaliid, Selena Gomez (though she was on Barney in the 1990s we never would have thought), Bad Bunny, Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Billie Elish, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X, Shawn Mendes, The Kid LAROI, Imagine Dragons, Alessia Cara, Tao Cruz, and others the music that we still have now as we now enter 2024. Before all these, we had Ludacris, Hilary Duff, Train, Jesse McCarthy, Kanye West, Marion 5, James Blunt, Nickelback, Creed, believe-it-or-not Usher, Kid Rock, Soul Decision, Uncle Cracker, Ne-Yo, Sean Paul, 50 Cent, Evanescence, Carrie Underwood, Blue October, Gwen Stefani, Citizen King, En Vogue, Sixpence None The Richer, Daniel Powter, S Club 7, Trick Daddy, and others I miss all that music by the way. But before all that was the Backstreet Boys, NSync, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, early Eminem, DMX, Mandy Moore, Eiffel 65, and others. Lady Gaga’s style of music changed how music is made! I don’t know if that’s good or bad I honestly feel mixed, but I honestly believe TikTok would not exist if wasn’t for Lady Gaga indirectly. I miss the old music in someways I’m sort-of mad at Lady Gaga and I’m sad because I miss the way music used to be in my opinion for in someways ruining what was once good music. 😢

i agree with all but ones thing, taylor swift did the internet promotion 2 years before gaga, with vlogs and public diaries

Trust me when I say that everyone AND their mamas were apart of the Gaga Mania back in the day. You just had to be there!!!

The scariest thing about this is that Lady Gaga is still just 15 years into her career and yet, despite her current achievements and acclaim that some of the world's biggest stars have never attained in their whole lives, still has a long way to go in her craft.

USA always the ones paying gaga dirt since the beginning.

She didn’t subvert shit. Don’t be delusional.

very accurate and ture ..... this is reality and it's obvious, how younger stars who came onto the scene in the 90s were all aboit dance coreographies and nothing more....mtv was pushing and marketing copycats teen stars, using the blueprint Legends like MJ and Madonna to market their own made pop sensations......BUT they couldn't recreate the Magic, that only true Artists have...and by the time the stars alligned and all the numebers were right, Gaga blew them all away with her unique sound and look, videos, presentation and, most of all True Artostry (already by her first album she was touring with the Fame Ball ) showing how, first and foremost, she was a Musician, a songwriter and a passionate singer...making her stand out in comparison to all the lypsynching, poppy artists who hadn't an inch of her talent......then her videos came along, and everybody followed....there is truly a pre and post gaga Era in pop culture

I was introduced to Gaga at the NKOTB 2008 tour when she opened for them. I was confused about her at first but became an immediate fan. I am so glad she toured with NKOTB.

man that great fame era takes me back to my middle school years i definitely miss that gaga she was weird, raunchy outrageous like 80s prince😂 her music was clearly better

Man, I feel bad for the generation that missed this era. It truly was the last great era for Pop music. GaGa was on top of the world, and other artists at the time like Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Kesha helped music stay fun for a few years. Who do we rely on nowadays for this? I can't even think of anyone.

American radio’s reluctance to play anything remotely “different” is why American pop culture missed out on so many musical phenomenons like Kate Bush and Robbie Williams, smh. (BTW I need a video on this topic, it’s so weird how much America has missed out in music)

Lmfao. Changed music ???? More like copying others’ music .
Madonna has 50 + plus songs on the chart

Whitney could sing circles around her

Mariah had written more hit songs than gaga would ever did

How many albums has gaga googoo put out that were successful???

She shocked and that’s what she’s gathered from M. However she doesn’t embodies the creativity nor longevity that M and other talented female artists had

It is so insane, in a good way, this kind of video. Bc 10 years ago lady gaga was the crazy one. And how she changed the game is such an inspiration as ever.

@VictorBrosMusic

On word EW 😂.

@mayssaqra3311
@

She was just an updated Madonna. At least thats what some people used to say.

Personally I think she was just another pop sensation that came and went too quickly. The fact that she branched out into the acting world it has distanced her from music.

Billie and Ariana were other pop sensations that came and went fast also.

And let's not forget that she was the first person with most followers on Twitter in 2010.
I don't want to sound arrogant, but I have very particular tastes in music and art and when I saw Gaga in 2009 I knew she was the Real Deal. and After 14 years, 13 Grammys and 1 Oscar, I'm still her biggest fan.

Lady Gaga.
Took bits of madonna, and Britney Spears blackout album. Along with her own style. And ran with it.

Introduced the pop genre for 2010s
