Don't look at me, I completely get a bit too verbal-ish just because I have a big possibility inside of my BEEG autistic brain.

Hi! I have one child out of the four that is non verbal, not diagnosed for sure yet but likely autist. He is really intelligent as far as learning things from watching sure, but he is not responding to talk. But I also do not see him point or so. He is now 4. Earlier like around age 2 he had some two sound sounds like dadada or eyeyey and if I started repeating it, he kept going with me looking at me, if my daughter switched to his other sound he switched along with her. But he is no longer doing that. He has a LOT of sounds, some very complex sounding blabla and even talks continuously in his own little language, and he has the intonations that is typical for our language. Even the high going up like a question with some push on it like whats going on? blablaba? and then goes oh.. oh... blabla.. As if answering. He repeats this sometimes. So it sounds to me naively as if he was acting some scenario in his little game way. If I sing to him then at specific things he watches intently my lips but does not mimic. He is NOT pointing at anything nor does he follow me pointing, but he is easy to get into playing together, he takes part, hands you things. Not just plays next to you. He has two half words the JU from JUICE and uses it for drink and ES for eating (we say eszik). Can you advise me how can I start him on start to speak, or what I can do as mom. Since you are yourself an autist that was non verbal your insight would be amaizing. Thank you for your help.

@KarenSanderson1Great. Do you think creatine would have helped?
@ALNSolutionsGreat mother!
@hopesouthstar4304William were you ever aggressive? Punching walls or people, scratching or pinching? If yes when did you stop and what do you think would help an 11 year old stop?
@johnapellicci3896Your mom's a therapist
@trinacriafitnessWhen they say non verbal does that mean NO vocabulary ???
@neuroticgypsyThe stares. The unsolicited advice. The isolation. We know what that’s like. If you’re raising a child with autism or other visible differences, you’re not alone. Our community is built for families like yours.
@MOMOfSpecialNeedsDo you remember being nonverbal? What was that like?
@jcarr1031Not all can. It’s just whether or not the mind CAN develop in that area.
@dragonflysagatiaej4833The subtitles are not showing the correct dialogue. Strange.
@anonocommentMy darling boy is six years old and while he can pronounce words clearly, he is still developing his sentence-building skills. Despite daily reading and consistent verbal interaction, his ADHD presents a significant challenge in maintaining focus. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I will continue to explore strategies to encourage his engagement and learning.
@bisonkambaine5628Thank you for sharing. I am looking for ways to teach my non-verbal son to speak.
@marionmeister4268At what age where you diagnosed? Do you have or had any sensory issues? Thanks!
@c7b7Your mom is a hero and God's blessing for your life ❤❤❤
@phoebephilipMy son doesn’t mimic or point
@nicolegrant2530At what age did you start speaking? I’m assuming your mom was a stay at home mom and your dad worked? As a single mom, I don’t have that option so time is limited. But I want to do everything I can for my daughter. Thank you for sharing!
@tracibuckley9314What are your opinions on speech therapy? My son is 4.5 years old. We tried in home therapy at 2.5 and he hated it. It would send him into meltdown and he would fall asleep from overwhelm. We cancelled therapy until he was 3.5 to see if that would help… we went to a clinic this time. He wanted to play but had no interest in the speech aspect of the therapy. So we left after a while doing that.
We are now considering in home play based therapy for speech… but I’m scared it will overwhelm him.
The key point here is definitely your mom. A lot of moms with Autistic kids rely so much on others for their child's education.
@esparda07William you're awesome. Massive respect and love.
@julespowell4896How do you get them to sit in the classroom.
@childofjesuschristnazareth5653I try to sing sons and my autistic son just covers my mouth 😂 like songs on YouTube he’s enjoying, I’ll try to sing along. 😂😂
@garydomaz1849I could use all of your advice
@angelawhite7863Intensive interaction is important to learn . Videos free on line
@enanomme7702For all parents of nonverbal level 3 autism. I’m a psychologist and I used NeurOptimal on him with attachment therapy and in one week he went from 2 words to sentences now after 30 sessions he is having complex conversations. I have only this one story to tell as I don’t normally work with autism but as a parent it’s worth looking at. I told the mum the beginning I didn’t know if it would help so I’d give her 3 free session. It’s been life changing. Also I stopped all discussions in front of him as if he wasn’t thee or if he was a problem. Thi also had a dramatic affect . The mother has also used diet which ended fits and calmed outbursts. The amazing woman in England who does intensive communication. Entering into their language helped enormously.
@enanomme7702I feel like you are telling my story . Only the last part of the story tells us missing. I will do that
@aericloudeThank you so much William! So helpful and give parents some insight into how we can advance our children’s speech and development ❤
@victoriasmith718Thank you so much for this educational video
@Nixx-c3vThank you so much. I have a nonverbal 7 year old who understands so much and used to have about 5 words that weren’t clear, but now only says 1 word ‘mom’ when frustrated. It’s very difficult to find verbal people who were once nonverbal at the typical speaking age to share their stories. I appreciate it so so much. ❤️
@j-z2325At that time ur mom done therapies.. Thank you for sharing
@SaimaShakeel-w4qThank you so much for this video.
@NicolePR91How can one think without words? I know animals do, but do nonverbal autistic people understand all that is said to them? How involved are their thoughts?
@MrCrowebobbyWow amazing.
@xiomanaxoxoxo3212Amen God is good.
My son is 4 years old just been diagnosed with Autism we had to wait on the list for nearly 2 years.
I was suspicious since he was nearly 2 years old. He is non verbal and I am hoping that one day he will be able to speak good thing is since I changed the nursery to a far better school he begun to say mama, daddy, baby, bye bye, let’s go go go go, but,
I am so happy he is super intelligent because I can see his understanding is really good very observant to details.
After seen your video today I got very emotional and believe me or not I am so delighted for your great accomplishment.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I had to slow my sons speech down. He started talking when he was over 3 yrs old.
@susangonos589My boy doesnt read books he refuses to look at them. Doesnt copy and doesnt pay attention unless its on tv so its different for every child. He never liked books his body is very sensory seeking and he needs to regulate it alot .
@mattersfingersAlways knew non verbals were faking it.
@ashtonvillero8724This gives me so much hope for my baby. These are the same things, me and my son father have been doing with my son since he was born. He is 3 and knows his abc and 123 in spanish and in english. He is finally able to say some words.❤❤❤ Thank you so much for this video. It feels good to know I'm doing something right with my baby for his autism
