The graphics compare distances for the group stage only, which is misleading. The point is to minimize travel over the entire tournament and probably to avoid big time changes or any particularly long flight. It's a reasonable choice.

@stevec5034a 3 hour flight or 3 hour bus trip makes no difference really, it's not like you're pedaling to make it go hahaha. New jets like a 787 takes most of the jetlag away as they're quite comfortable with pressure and humidity similar to ground level. Also, why would england station in Kansas City?. surely a centrally located major city in Colorado or Missouri like Denver or St. Louis have resorts and executive airports in abundance. both have pro clubs and universities with top class training facilities as well. Not sure why they settled for a third choice resort
