I was at this very Memorial service, and I still get choked up when I hear this song. The lord was defiantly with us that day. 70,000 people praising God we are all so different but yet alike. Young and old who were once strangers before that day became family and praised God. It was one of the most incredible moments in my life.

Charlie was basically my age. The idea of my life ending right now, with so many goals I’ve yet to accomplish, with just under five years of marriage down, and my son being less than a year old, truly breaks me like nothing else.
Charlie’s death devastated me in a way no other celebrity death ever had, and I wasn’t even his biggest fan. I had plenty of strong theological disagreements with him. But when he was killed, all of that melted away. It didn’t matter anymore. My brother in Christ was murdered, his wife has been abandoned and relentlessly harassed, and his children have been severely damaged even if they don’t really know it yet. As a husband and a father, my heart has to ache for this.
Chris Tomlin performing ‘Holy Forever’ at the Memorial Service deeply touches my soul. I feel heaven and earth, church triumphant and church militant, worship together here. Exactly what Charlie would’ve wanted, exactly what God wanted.
