If you knew you were 100 rejections away from doing what you love, would you give up? Or would you keep going? Personally, I’d keep going.

What I hate are these online ads saying people are looking for actors and extras and they show high wages just for extras . Then when you check out their site , you seem to find out it's a scam because they have prices on how much you pay them for getting an audition .

ON WRITING: A Memoir of the Craft

I had a manager who told me years ago, when it comes to this business you have to "enjoy the ride," and don't focus so much on the end result because none of us know what the future holds, but we do have our present treks that we're making to get there.

As a person who was born with a vision disability, it never ceases to amaze me that all those able bodied, good looking wannabe actors get such a shock when they get so many rejections despite their talents. Unlike Corporate America (or Australia where I come from), directors don't really care how many years they've done the same thing over and over again. People fail to realise that the vast majority of those who made it big had many rejections and failed auditions, no matter how good their acting was. Unfortunately some good looking people cheat their way into acting through modelling, and there is also a bit of nepotism, but that one only applies to a small percentage.

Summary of tips (still watching, some stuff may repeat because information may relate to more than 1):

1) You need to have some level of confidence. If you don't start out with it immediately then fine, but you HAVE to develop confidence, or you will seriously struggle.

2) Luck is a massive factor, you can put in all the training in the world and still struggle to make a big break.

3) You need to constantly be practicing. Although luck is an important factor, if you have nothing to show for it then it doesn't matter, so make sure you dedicate proper time into acting, because it's hard if you don't take it seriously.

4) There is a whole lot of doing absolutely nothing. You can spend months looking for work and not getting anything, even some of the best actors can struggle to find work, you just have to keep applying and keep practicing in that time.

5) Linking with some of the above points, you've got to get out there and audition. If all you do is practice, but don't really look that hard for auditions, you are not going to get anything, you need to be able to just accept that you're going to get rejected a lot and keep applying.

6) If you aren't able to push through most of the negative of acting, which most of them have said there's a lot, or you don't have an alternative way to feel fulfilled like a hobby, then you should just give up because there is so much negativity in the industry that if it's too much for you then the positive isn't going to be as enjoyable, and at that point, why are you even acting?

7) It is an incredibly competitive industry, far more than most.

8) You are going to receive a massive amount of negative feedback, or none at all, you need to be able to turn criticism into something constructive, and then focus on making those changes without feeling anxious or upset that somebody didn't like how you did it (This is mostly my own point, but there were quite a few of them in the vid that made comments like this)

Stuff we use:

CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - http://amzn.to/2u66V1J

Kids who can hardly talk are actors ,French who can hardly talk English acting in America, annoying British accents actors acting in America, unbelievable…

— @Canoneosmiami

LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - http://amzn.to/2tbtmOq

I rarely ever comment but I'm 11 mins in and I feel so heartened by these. I kept asking myself why am I doing this? No one believes in me. Not one person supports me in what I am doing. It is HARD when no one believes in you. I believe in myself but there's only so much that can take you. Especially when you're a woman and not an attractive one. I am trying to create my own work and it's HARD. When no one believes in you at all. Ever, plus you have to do your regular jobs, it's hard but, watching these? Wow it gives me a bit of hope.

-Nepo Babies
-British People
-Austrailian People
-Celebrities who have an established career from different fields
These are the people that casting directors choose.

Guys, we have to address the nepotism, ethnocenturism towards british and austrailian people, and celebrities who want to dabble and play around in the acting field.

The acting strike was the perfect opportunity to address those things, but we failed horribly. Actors did not win anything in the strikes.

Now we as actors cant just complain about never getting work, but we gotta talk about it.

SUCCESS STORY- I discovered both LOAs this I prefer Law Of Assumption better. In 2017 i applied to a flight school ,i did not believe for a min that i could be a pilot ever but there i was waiting to get into a flight school. I robotically affirmed randomly that i was the first pilot in my family, that i was acceppted etc. I didn't know what i was doing ,i was just trying to hype myself up and then boom i was called for an interview then i got in... Keep affirming ,don't stress whatever you want will come about.

Also I was a theatre Major in college and I learned more on set and on stage outside of college just by actually doing it. So college is good but you do not need college. I repeat you DO NOT NEED IT. Many have done it without a formal education. But theatre is a good training ground before getting into movies or Broadway . Do local and regional Theatre. Get on that stage first before doing movies. Learn where the art all started. There was a stage before there were movies.

@gabrielscruggsjr9492

Agree with this somewhat but you don't need backup plan. Just believe in original plan and have good side hussells and make those money making jobs your safety net. I believe we all have a purpose designed for us. Don't act unless it's your gift. If it's your gift then it will happen. Just be patient. Timing is key.
