This is a pretty bad list. Just double the price of a movie ticket and it will beat all the "tops" that are released after that. I would be more interested in the number of movie tickets sold, that would give a more realistic picture.
@MoffSeerdontotally meaningless unless its inflation adjusted
@carlh296THESE FUCKERS ARE NOT AJUSTING FOR INFLATION. iT'S PRETTY MUCH MEANINGLESS.
@darren1000This list just shows how people used to watch GOOD movies. Today, you have the exact opposite. Disney crp all over the place, all of them are at best acceptable and those make the big money.
@MooWoolfMaannn!! Except for titanic,all these films are fantasy Stories ,yet stayed highest grossing
The fact that A lot of people watched these probably choose to believe the Bible and Christ as fantasy and avoiding them is wild
Dumbest humans ever to live on this earth is this generation...
Can u not hate on avatar it was a good movie
@DeepikaJoshi-w1j1kТитаник, а остальное полная хрень
@pashkovalex8453They should refund the force awakens.
@jlfc99Total dollars are useless. Either adjust for inflation, or by total ticket sales. This list would change greatly based on ticket sales. The highest American film was Avengers Endgame, selling over 430 million admissions. Star War was 5th with 338 million.
@gabriel51366타이타닉이 최고
@긍정낙관If not adjusted for inflation these numbers mean nothing.
@k16gt22Many should be considered not only in terms of inflation. The most important thing is the percentage of the viewing population.
@StilHOT1970Fun fact, according to multiple reports and film references, River Phoenix was reportedly James Cameron’s original choice to play Jack Dawson in Titanic before River Phoenix died in 1993. The role eventually went to Leonardo DiCaprio.
@aaronvigil9910omg the lion king live made so much money, i had no idea
@RicardoCarvalho_1996both endgame and avatar are almost mediocre movies from my memory of watching them. meanwhile shrek 2 and incredibles 2 is peak cinema haha
@RicardoCarvalho_1996The bodyguard with 411 million in late 1992 should have appeared on the list.
@whfan007never had any desire to watch the super hero or comic book movies but I figured Titanic or Avatar would have been the top grossing.
@gwenna1161If you adjust for inflation, Gone with the Wind is still the highest grossing movie of all time.
@harifedererI'm adoring the new commentary it helps me really understand the era and what's going on please keep it up! I learned so much history from this because I could hear it and focus on the numbers Rise and Fall!
@trysky6God I hope so, in response to your last thought there at the end.
@moseshamlett3887Avatar is soo trash
@calvinslattery6625This is so ai bro boiii sonnn
@therealchicken68which of the movies on the list do you hate the most?
@JMasalleI bet that the next Demon Slayer movie will have $1 billion, possibly earning its place on this list🔥🔥
@SeanJennings-d3dI never understood why Silence of the Lambs or the first Jurassic Park were so big.
@julie4462-i2lProbably inflation has a lot to do with it
@WarDaddy209What happened to the Passion of the Christ idiot
@carmelogonzalez7385Alien? Aliens?
Mmhh…
Y Matrix ???
@MiguelGlasIt’s crazy that most of all the top movies and all Top ips are all owned by Disney. They own Three big franchises that are known which is Marvel, Star Wars, and now Avatar since they bought 21 century fox in 2019. They literally own all the good IPs movies and characters.
@ayodriipz_Seeing The Force Awakens and the Avengers replace movies like The Godfather and Jaws really makes you think about how far we’ve fallen here
@davidwoolf3069I don't see the point of these rankings if you don't factor in inflation (for example, the estimated gross revenue of Gone with the wind in 2026 US dollars is close to 4 billion)
@impossibledetrouverA good illustration as to how movies have "generally" gone to sht since the early 2000's.
@michaelkirkpatrick7483The All-Time Box Office Kings: Top 10 Adjusted for Inflation
Gone with the Wind (1939) – ~\(\$4.5\) mil millones
Avatar (2009) – ~\(\$4.1\) mil millones
Titanic (1997) – ~\(\$3.8\) mil millones
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) – ~\(\$3.7\) mil millones
Avengers: Endgame (2019) – ~\(\$3.2\) mil millones
The Sound of Music (1965) – ~\(\$2.9\) mil millones
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) – ~\(\$2.8\) mil millones
The Ten Commandments (1956) – ~\(\$2.7\) mil millones
Doctor Zhivago (1965) – ~\(\$2.5\) mil millones
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) – ~\(\$2.5\) mil millones
If avatar was remade then it is a separate movie from the original not considered avatar but avatar remade so this list is highly inaccurate
@user-jl7yb9cw1wAm I the only one who doesn’t understand why Avatar made so much? It’s mid story wise, & yeah it was an event…but so were most of these 🤷♂️
@TWHowlthere is not point in doing this with no inflation adjustment
@jeanmartin963Batman, not The Batman and it is the wrong image.
@chucky110Not an original thought from Hollywood in years with all the remakes.
@BillGreenAZAdjust for inflation: GONE WITH THE WIND. and SOUND OF MUSIC
@optobobadjustments for inflation! biggest money maker was and is gone with the wind
@ron-l1o3xDid you account for inflation?
