6. Vox Short Tom Echo.

hello,Steve , how can I translate it into Spanish?

— @maxjara8735

Hank Marvin has used numerous echo units over the years and it is a key part of his signature sound.

In this video I look at 6 units that have been produced over the years with the aim of replicating the sounds of the very early Meazzi drum echo units up to the Roland RE301 units that Hank used in the 80s period.

Sadly, Steve is no longer with us. He is missed, greatly.

— @rogersilcox524

Take a guess which is which.

A comprehensive list of units Hank Marvin used over the years available here courtesy of TVS speciality products.

Hello Steve, Hello estev, query: Where or how can you buy a Vox Echo effect or a Meazzi effect. Please provide an address to acquire what is requested, Thank you. My language is Spanish.. Waiting for your answer..

Yep the great ones are sadly disappearing fast but, the Strymon Volante is a great echo unit of recent times.

What do you think about the Blue Nebula?

Whato Steve, I play wonderful land and apache etc and have a 1992 Hank signature and a 40th aniversary. Been playing for 58 years. I can now play any instrumental in the style of Hank which is good fun. I would say only the last unit did not sound as good. The others were so similar that with the backing music it would be hard to distinguish them. The audience probably don’t mind authenticity if it sounds really good. The multiple echoes need to stand out on the muted section which the last echo failed to do. Great video👍👍👍👍👍

Geez, that Long Tom was a bit of a mess. Maybe it needed some service.

@BogusPomp

I would say that the first ones are the H&C,,,,

Tony Cooper 2019 : Hank also used a Roland Space Echo on live Stage shows for many years in a specially made angled box then his box grew and he then had 2 Roland space echo's one above the other for about five years at least.

Steve, do you have to download a shadows patch to the unit zoom G3X or it has the sound itself?

@jaimereyes7924

What is your opinion between Zoom G1, G2 and G3 Echosounds quality, are they basically same or? Thanks for your nice and good job.

The cleanest purest sound is the Wem Copicat Hank used back in the day! Cant beat tape echo!

A friend used to have a Meazzi Factotum back in 1978. He played Albatros through a Vox AC 30 and the sound was amazing.

Hi Steve, are the Charlie Hall patches still available?

Hi mate, I'm completely new to playing a guitar only just purchased my electric stat copy, I do listen to a lot of shadows etc, right or wrong I would use myself number one echo sound, thanks p s only my opinion cheers.

@ronnielees7420
@

steve you are saying that you had an TVS3 but not anymore
is it a good echo or is it simalar to the rest of your echo,s ?

@mannesschoolderman1959
@

I had a Zoom G1xon which you provided the patch for Steve, and it was very good. Now I have a Zoom G2 1u with EFTP installed going through a VOX AC15VR and for me, it's pretty damn good!!! I can never find a Meazzi, let alone afford one!!!!

@alexbetty5896
@

Good video but where is the video where you reveal wich is wich?

@ubiratanguimaraes6996

Definitely not the last one - it's far too tinny!

@bsul03420
@

Ce serait pas mal de citer les machines utilisées dans la démo...

@jeanclaudeveriez9425
@

Number one and three sound good to me. How about the Meazzi Factotum, just wondering if Hank used one of those back in the 60s ?

@pho2
@

I used in the 60ies a WEM Echo device to play Shadows songs....

@uwetittmann1423
@

I've got an old Watkins Copi Cat had it since 1967 did the Shadows stuff also used one on our PA. We made up new tapes using the HD reel to reel tapes from those big Akia type tape players. I rang Charlie Watkins in London from Darwin Australia around 1976, ( cyclone tracy had obliterated the place) . he airmailed me two packets of tapes cost 10 pounds, I still have them unused in there original packets. Things for the vid Steve, and nice playing as well.

@rossco289

Great comparison thanks.
Does anyone here know how to rig up a zoom G3. Do I need a USB B to B data cable to connect to Katana 50 amp?

@edsternet
@

Thank you Steve, I have no idea, I just have one thought and that is that the third section was by far the worst sounding one, the others were quite similar.

@Henryk516
@

Thanks Steve. Very informative. Using a G3X with EFTP and experimenting with VST. Have to get "that sound" :)

@byronmcduffy3485
@

I wanted to buy the hall and collins.But after this comparison,i m not sure anymore.can you tell us now the number of each unit please?

@grigou35853
@

Nice comparsion but why not overlay the names at the end of the video on a sample so everyone has at least an idea which is which?

@byronmcduffy3485
