Fprrest Gump - I love that film

RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Wow. Dammit, he was good! And at the same time, I feel like we only saw just a sliver of what he could do.

Also, if anyone is a Drag Race fan, when Mama Ru says “Silence! Bring back my girls.” she is paying homage to Dame Maggie’s role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. 🤓

The Dame Maggie Smith!!!!!! As an out and proud gay man, we live for strong females!! Even as a child, I saw her in Sister Act and knew her! The nerd that I am! I knew that Whoopi was playing a role very similar to this one in the Suster Act sequel. There weren’t very many roles like this at this time and certainly not coming out of the UK where women are expected to be not so loud or not so challenging to authority. I think this role was the moment where Dame Maggie became an icon for all of us! All of that fire in her eyes. I believed her! We believed her! Oh my goodness!!

Of course, this famous monologue by Denzel is one of the greatest ever but my favorite scene in this film is after they robbed and murdered his friend for his millions, he is sitting in the car with Jake and trying to convince him not to snitch on him and the crew and Alonzo’s eyes tear up but the tears never fall. Its a bit neat because the character Alonzo is an amazing actor as well. He has to be to have fooled everyone around him and be able to intimidate so many people in order to hold on to his power. He is willing to use any and every trick in the book. I feel like Alonzo wanted to convey human emotion to Jake just to keep his calm enough to still trust him as far as their next destination. Which is where he pays the cholos to eliminate him and we know how that goes. This man gives me chills.

My favorite scene’s the one from Training Day with Denzel Washington. I haven’t seen the movie, I don’t know if I will at some point, but it’s a great scene!

Maggie Smith is my hero!!

Maggie Smith took the show, I can see myself saying the same lines to a judge to get custody of my daughter from my soulless ex girlfriend and her bs accusations against me. Let me act let me live

I am Sam SUCKED. Sean Penn was much better in Mystic River. I've never seen a worse casting choice than Michelle Pfeiffer. Not only was she wrong, she acted like she didn't even want to be a part of the movie. So strained... actually that's a good word for Penn's performance too. Hate hate hated that ridiculous movie!

Washington but I have to say Penns acting was phenomenal

Not one of those scenes is a great acting scene. They are all virtually monologues. The last one with driver is such over acting where did his anger come from in that scene. Great acting is when two actors collide in a scene from what is actually take place in the scene and you can't remove those scenes from the film because it draws the real story between the actors
