For geography nerds there actually is another self governing area in Finland.

Kallankarit which is formed by two small islands Ulkokalla and Maakalla. Historically fisherman islands that now does not have over year residents. But it has village, church... and the fishermen still lives there part of the summer.

The self governing is based on royal decree given by Swedish king in 1771 that gave the right for jurisdiction of those islands to fishermen. And to this day they have selected their council and "leader".

Today... Yes it is part of EU and Finland (some have questioned even that). It only has really limited administrative self governining. But it has even been tested on Finnish Supreme Court where they won a case in 1980´s.

It is clearly not anything close to Åland or many other autonomous or self governing area. But they do have some legimacy and aren´t some micronation.

Third, about our relations with Sweden. We even have a funny joke rhyme about our ice hockey games, which translates to "A battle, a battle, Finland Sweden match. Bone and blood, every single time." Yeah, we love those bastards.😂

I am a swede, but my father comes from Värmland.. In the 16th c there came a thousand finns from Savola/Savolax to mid Sweden like Dalarna, Västmanland, Värmland,.Jämtland etc.. And that is probably from there my 2% finnish genes comes from. What they brought was also crazy humour,.which is typical for Värmland. People from here: Krister Mikko, Monika Zetterlund, Tage Erlander(ex PM), Mia Skäringer, Bengt Alsterlind, Gunde Johansson och Sven-Göran Eriksson. Björn Skifs and Lasse Berghagen from Dalarna etc... The Finnish guys from Eurovision, Windows 95 man seems very close, almost like a group from Värmland...❤😊
