Gen-Z Music Producer SHOCKED Listening to "Houses of the Holy" for the first time

This is the Zeppelin production They didn't take really serious and decided to have fun when making. You can literally hear. At this time they were on top of the music world and had nothing to prove.

I believe the "Rain Song " is the only song that John Bonham uses brushes in a Zeppelin song. Great song.

Houses of the holy is easily my favorite Zep album - probably not a lot of people feel the same way, but it’s their most exploratory album of the era, and it just hits different than all their others

You should give Dred Zeppelin a listen. An Elvis impersonator sings Led Zeppelin songs to a reggae beat. The musicianship is excellent.

If you listen very closely you can hear Bonham lightly click his drumsticks at the end of that vocal solo on The Ocean, marking it's end. Just a neat thing he does sometimes.

One thing I absolutely love about funk music, is how it was just so damn good. That in the 70s. It infected the other music genres. The best funk influenced song is Amos Moses, by Jerry Reed. Sounds like the guitar is plugged straight into the mixing board.

yeah, you kind of can hear fool in the rain in the ocean- Fool in the Rain is one of my favorites it's an incredible drumming

the story may be apocryphal, but apparently the 'Crunge' was their attempt at making a completely undanceable funk track, with a recognizably James Brown-inspired feel.

Its got it all. From Bonhams heavy take on reggae in D'yer M'ker to the haunting aura of No Quarter. This album would be a career for most bands. For Zeppelin, it was simply, "an album we managed to get out" in between world breaking tours according to Plant. There's no other Zeppelin. Great band. But they're no Greta Van Fluke. LMAOOOUUUT!!

im very pleased that 'The Rain Song' hit the way it should for Isaac. good on ya, mate. also NOTHING hits like 'no quarter'. (pink floyd eat your atom heart out) also, that vocal sounds like a slow Leslie to me, but knowing Jimmy Page, could be anything.

You'll need to check with Jimmy or Swansong anyway to be sure, but I think this track 'The Song Remains The Same' and 'Over The Hills And Far Away' at minimum from that album were audio slow recorded pitched down and with the tape sped up for later mixdown & mastering..

Plant pretty much lost his top register for good following the sole Led Zeppelin tour of Australia 1972/3...at the end of which he had - catastrophic vocal fold surgery & frankly lost his legendary Banshee Wail (as he calls it) for good..

If you read the notes to the follow up to HOTH, ie Physical Graffiti 4 songs on that double album were cuts recorded on the Rolling Stones mobile unit at Headley Grange, Hampshire from the LZIV sessions..

Others disagree, but for me Zeppelin probably should have quit after Presence (1976)..

Honestly along with IV, this is their greatest work.
As much as I love Physical Graffiti and Zep II.
Something about Houses just grabs me and doesn't let go.
No Quarter easily in the top 3 best songs they ever recorded too.

I read that Plant did make up the melody and structure to "The Crunge" on the fly and in one take, and that it was intended to be in a James Brown style.

You need to see The Song Remains the Same live MSG 1973, you will get all your answers about speeding up the track. Great album. Very excited you sat down and really listen to it. Great reaction. Keep going.

D’yer Maker was a huge hit and it still works for me. They felt like aliens coming down in a landscape of the most conservative predictable music.

Not a big fan of Zeppelin's lyrics but, the the build in The Rain Song leads nicely to the last line which is brilliant!

You said this is "Whack" you crazy!! You are looking up a bunch of the history of the album before you film your episode and call out everything that a first time listener would never know.... FAIL!!!!

Just think of All the music you heard up to this point in your life and you hear this album and think, wow, this is a bizarre album. Now try to imagine all the music We heard up until 1973 when this came out, talk about mind blowing! It truly was next level stuff !
