Fried Egg Guides: Southern Hills, Site of The 2022 PGA Championship
Video Overview & Insights
The most recent installment of our Fried Egg Guides focuses on this year's PGA Championship venue, Southern Hills Country Club. We sit down with golf architect Gil Hanse to discuss his team's 2019 historic renovation of Southern Hills and how the course will both look and play differently than the last time it hosted a major in 2007.
B-but muh Bedminster!

Love the idea of short grass instead of deep rough around the greens. Deep rough is punishing but rather random and boring watching guys try to chop it out and random chance playing a large role in the outcome. With short grass you can fly balls to the target, bump and run, bring them in low etc. The guys that hit it long with a great short game this week should thrive here. Congratulations Jordan on the Career Grand Slam!

Think the 8th will surprise some of the top guys. That green is tough.

This is excellent, love the illustrations. I can't help but think a guy like Spieth is going to thrive here considering the number of crazy recovery shots that this course is going to demand

Looks nice and well thought out
@garymclaughinI wish they'd move the PGA back to August. I hate that the majors are over so early in the year now.
@mrog5481Looks a bit like Augusta - and just so happens to be Scottie Schefflers favourite course. I picked Scottie to win the Masters weeks before it started, and I'm picking him again for the PGA because why not.
@SiLoMixMasterI play a game on my computer called PGA 2K21 and I created this course for it using LIDAR. It's a beautiful course, it will be a challenge.
@doubletapgaming1189Love the golf dog at the 4:45 mark.
@paulegger9031great stuff guys. the Tour Junkies guys were talking ya'll up for your Gil Hanse interview this week so i checked it out.
@MrBgolfThe course looks fantastic!
@billyh4068It has shades of Augusta National in the way the holes drape on and around the slopes and creek valleys… which isn’t a huge surprise considering Maxwell’s involvement there, it surely showed him some things. A beautiful routing
@Nick_J_Where's scuba Steve

@vitamind2387this course is a GEM. cannot wait for this PGA Championship!!
@ryankwoodsGreat content 👌 and speaks so well to the Fried Egg brand of helping golfers better understand golf architecture through storytelling. Love the little illustrations too as a way to show some of the contouring which you don't see on the broadcast.
@davidmiddlemast9030Thank you for the amazing high quality content! Fantastic cinematography and information as usual. Please stick with it.
@adrianwatson331Looks like it should be a fun test.
@robmcgarry9030Beautiful, dangerous and difficult. "She's" gonna be a challenge.
@SometimesBirdiesEricWhat old is new again. I absolutely love playing old school designs, As a Canadian the closest we get to that is the late great Stanley Thompson.
@James-wp3zcGreat video. Love hearing Hanse talk about great design
@PUSHCUTPlayed just before the resto….looks fantastic and harder now!!
