Tysm! I am autistic, with special needs that also plays sports, I played basketball since 5th grade and i’m about to become a freshman and go back to typical school, thank you so much because this should give me advice to know and acknowledge what a typical high school is like since I was sent to a therapeutic campus (Daycare-21 years old, also i am discharged out of that school as a day student my whole 6-8th grade of being there, I got discharged on July 31st 2025) But I was sent there for behavioral issues and I think this information should benefit this, im now gonna go look up other videos for these to prepare myself for 9th grade, love the information and ty.

I’m going into 9th with my bf from 7th grade and yes I did get distracted by him sometimes but he also helps me a lot in school he’s in 10th grade math so yk he do be helping too😭

As someone who’s bouts be a sophomore, here’s my freshman advice:

Academic: don’t procrastinate at all!! I did but luckily I had super nice teacher because i should’ve gotten an F for procrastination but I got an A😛😛. Start planning ur classes for the next 4 years of hs. Like make sure you know what you wanna take the year after freshman year and the year after that until senior year. Take classes that will be good for wtv you wanna do in college. Personally I wanna be a doctor so I’m taking a lot of good science classes and APs along with required courses, a language, and other stuff. Also I recommend having atleast one fun class to start your first year light, mine was baking and pastry. Do all of ur work, ask questions, be nice to teachers bc you never know when you need their help to pass their class, and take it easy. This is from someone who got straight A’s freshman year


Extracurriculars: JOIN AS MANY AS U CAN FIT IN YOUR SCHEDULE BUT DONT OVERDO IT TO UR TOO BUSY. Even if u have never done a sport, I recommend trying out for one, I never did sports before I joined track and I love track and field. I wanna do volleyball too but I’m gonna do both indoor and outdoor track since I only did outdoor for freshman year. Join sports and clubs. I was in 3 clubs personally. Join clubs that look good for college (for example I joined youth and med) and fun clubs! Some clubs I joined were good for college while some were just for fun and you get to meet many people through them. Join activities too like plays, chorus, etc. I personally didn’t do those but if you don’t like sports and clubs do that


Social: BE VERY SOCIAL. Being chill with ppl will help you survive high school. Go to all the dances and stuff. Atleast go to the hoco football game, even if u miss the rest. Go to gatherings, talk to people, hang out with people, have fun. Ik this seems hard if your introverted but as someone who couldn’t even speak to ppl I had classes with for years in middle school, high school really awakened the social part of me. You’ll make new friends, lose some old ones, but it will be okay

Remember it’s only 4 years. You’ll be okay!

12:01 especially don’t tell people your crush. It will get spread around and rumors will start which is an obvious reason but there’s another reason that nobody talks about. It can put a lot of pressure on people. Only tell your best BEST friends that are the absolute closest to you who your crush is. When I was in 8th grade, a 7th grader told me she liked a boy who I ALSO liked but she didn’t know I liked him because she and I weren’t super close. Also, I went to a small school and all the 8th graders agreed to only date within the grade because… yk.. maturity gaps are big in middle school. So I liked him but I literally couldn’t go after him because a girl who I was barely friends with told me she liked him. It also sucked because of the whole agreement I talked about. The fact that 8th graders at my school DID NOT go after anyone younger than 8th graders meant that she didn’t really have a chance 😭 I’m not trying to be mean, she is very pretty, but she’s just too young. I spent multiple nights sobbing because I REALLY liked him but couldn’t do anything about it and I felt really bad. Please don’t make people feel that way. I hope this made sense 😭 it was a longggg story that I tried to make as short as possible so I hope nobody had a stroke reading it lol

incoming senior advice to incoming freshman watching this year: check for your requirements for graduation, i got those done before my 10th grade (except for 2) after you finish those smooth sailing for the rest of it. If you’re worried about the workload, honestly it isn’t that much if you do it at school if you can. If you have any honors/AP classes DO NOT DROP THEM (unless it’s ruining your mental). BUILD A BOND WITH YOUR TEACHERS EVEN THE ONES YOU DONT LIKE, if you’re good and build a bond with all your teachers because you never know when you need a letter of recommendation from a teacher. Extracurriculars are the easiest way to make friends. Be chill like don’t do too much bc it really makes you look a mess and a childish fool. like she said freshman year is an important year. its the foundation of how you go throughout the rest of your highschool experience.

for incoming freshman this is my advice as smb going into junior year

idk much abt academics I say js lock in and stuff better to start doing good now than regretting everything ur final two years

one of my main regrets freshman and sophomore year is not getting more involved with school stuff and social stuff i was really depressed the first two years and missed out on a lot and there’s just sm time that I can’t get back so please just make the most out of everything join clubs take photos make friends and just stuff like that because what everyb says is true time does fly by really fast and you don’t realize it at the moment ik life can suck a lot at times and we also should plan for the future but just remember to stop and smell the flowers from time to time I wish I did that

One thing that I have worked on is saying no. For example, if some popular kid asks for all the answers to a paper, YOU CAN SAY NO! Even if you are the most helpful person on the planet, even if it means lying because I always lie about not having the answers, it saved me from both embarrassment and guilt.
