Frank Marshall plays Grieg Norwegian Dance no. 2 (1907 rec.)
Video Overview & Insights
Edvard Grieg (1843-1907)
There is a mistake, this is not a Norwegian Dance, but a Spanish Dance.
Four Norwegian Dance for Piano 4 hands, Op. 35 (arranged for piano two hands by the composer): no 2, Allegretto tranquillo e grazioso in A major
Frank Marshall (1883-1959), piano. Marshall was the teacher of Alicia de Larrocha. More information here:
I see you put the link to the website where I read the information, so I'm pretty useless. ;-)

Acoustic recording made around 1907
A noter que Frank Marshall a aussi écrit des livres. Frank Marshall wrote books about how to use the pedal, and about sonorities. I don't know what is the worth of his writings, but it would be interesting to study to what extent it influenced A. de Larrocha.

I remember this Norwegian Dance as being one of the two "classical" pieces that introduced to me to music at the age of three or four (the other was the "Badinerie" from Bach's B minor orchestral suite). Can't remember if I heard it on the radio or if it was a recording, but it helped to make music the love of my life and the thing I could least live without. Fascinating historical document hereâthis is the teacher that gave to the world one of the 20th century's greatest pianists! Â Do you know, Erwin, if there exist any recordings of Frank Marshall playing Granados? Â Â
