Tomatoes grow like weeds, I can never keep up with pruning them. I gave up pruning in the blazing summer heat, but I still get decent harvest 😅

I'm thinking about topping my Tomato plants. Prune the lower Sun leaves and later on top the grow point (Suckers) Because they too will produce fruit ?? What do you think ??

I had a friend that let all his Tomatoes run on the ground , he didn't mess with anything and got gobs & gobs
of the best tasting tomatoes that you ever had , no pruning ,no tying up , no nothing ,just water .. year after year.
He was selling them on the side of the road ..

Advice needed

Looks like I've over watered my plants, and yep the heat hit & they're wilting.

My question is, since all my fruits are close to the bottom & I don't currently have any blossoms anywhere on the plants, can I cut about half of the plant down, just above a sucker I let go intentionally, and have the plant survive? Essentially, I want to know if this maturing sucker can become a new main stem if I cut the existing main stem it's branching off of and not end up killing the plant.

@Cory14Tina02

Wow! No AI. Thanks for the information. I always remove suckers but I will try leaving a few this year.

Just as a note to any begginers as me making fertilizer from stinging nettle is amazing! Makes tomatos shoot up. Just grab some nettle and cover it in water 1/10 and mix daily for two weeks(its gonna stink a lot) after that dilute into container 1/10 and water with it every couple days. Its really worth it!

at 14:50 you're working on th plant and there are 2 plastic rings around stem, is that for the string feed ?
Have a swiss chard question for you lmk when you're ready?

You have to teach the tomato plant a lesson by shredding any branch with no fruit. All of a sudden it will have an attitude change and put fruit on every branch
