Football (soccer) Referee Signals & Body Language Guide - For every situation
Video Overview & Insights
This video showcases all the football (soccer) referee signals from the IFAB Laws of the Game, plus real-world signals used by referees at various levels. Referees are taught differently around the world, so I included several examples for the signals. And for body language I wanted to show how you can explain or sell a decision better by using your body.
Thank you for watching. The signals shown are a mix of the ones from the IFAB laws of the game and from real world refereeing. I also wanted to show how a referee can use body language to explain and sell a decision better.
I deliberately only blew into the whistle once for each signal because it would be annoying to hear it so many times considering how many types of signals I showed. I hope some of the signals and body language techniques shown can be of some help.
Even though it’s not mandatory to use all of these signals or body language techniques shown, I hope some can be of help.

3:04 - Substitution
3:16 - Stopping play
3:27 - Ball out of play
Perfect video! I have my first match as a referee in 2 days and I'm nervous and starting to doubt if I know everything.
3:42 - Ball not stationary
3:50 - Ball/wall placement
With so many variations of the same situations, is this due to the game situation? Is this depending on how you feel? Is it simply just an indication of what is appropriate?
4:01 - Restart of play from incorrect place
4:11 - Goal kick - Inside the penalty area too early

7:56 - Need for a stretcher
8:00 - Call in medical personel
This is the best signal video I have seen - for offside violations (and particularly when no ARs are present), while keeping one hand raised in the IFK position I also like to add a horizontal back and forth motion with the other arm stretched in front and the hand pointing down showcasing what the IFK is for.
8:10 - Call in player
8:15 - Discreet signal to the AR
Hi should there be a difference in the way you angle your arm for a throw in vs a direct free kick?
8:23 - Take down AR's flag
8:34 - Call in both teams
Excellent
8:43 - Stay there
8:47 - Wait
I'm using Google Translate. Thanks for the useful video. What kind of signals are there when a referee changes a decision after discussing with the line referee, fourth official, or other on-field officials?
8:51 - Wait for the whistle
9:10 - End half
Much appreciated. As a newer coach I really do appreciate the simplicity of your video.

@juanindojorgijanad2001Very nice content, could you make a video on your journey as a referee ?
( why you started, the most difficult situations you've ever faced, tips and so on )
Sam alltid riktigt bra video för alla domare 🙏
Tack Viktor 👏👌
Thank you! Love it. Btw, if the ball slighty out of the line, is it counted as ball-out?

@コルチヨネEXCELLENT AND OUTSTANDING video! It will be very helpful for me for higher referee levels!!!!! keep it up!!!!
@williamhuang7624Man you're so good at it. One question: Do you practice these signals/whistles alone?
My dream is to be a referee. There's no better channel for people like me to learn. Thank you mate!
Edit:
1. Can you make a video recommending (and/or testing) linesmen flags?. Think it would be very useful to assistant referees.
2. Could you make a video showing referee positioning and good practices (also described in the actual IFAB Laws of the game)?
The video i have been waiting for a while and it didn't disappointed me,keep up the good work!By the way what Garmin watch do you use?
