Yeah, Desantis wanted to get rid of homestead property taxes, That would be great, but thats not what this bill does. What it actually does is rebase the existing homestead exemption, and shift property tax burden from long time homesteads to new/young homeowners. Actual numbers for my neighborhood is a 30yo buying their first home will pay ~$5500 next year, and the 50yo with a 20 year homestead next door will pay zero. Real numbers, actual example. The bill is a proxy for age based discrimination. It does not meaningfully reign in gov't spending. It does not reduce budgets or taxes. It redistributes the tax burden away from long term homesteads and onto others. Some of which cannot afford it, like the young people trying to get started. It's "The Boomer Bill" that does what boomers always do.

Your receipts don't add up. I got $773 million. Interestingly your receipts were from the Cities and counties that actually make money in the state.

DeSantis should of never did that. Schools, roads, and utilities, public parks etc. need money to be maintained. If anything, we need better auditing and accountability to prevent fraud to lower taxes.

If you have no income tax and no property tax, you're sales tax will be 30%. All those roads, bridges , schools EMS, Fire And Police won't pay for themselves.

The private school voucher program lost $270M in taxpayer funds. DeSantis and co said they will not try to recoup or find these payments. They’ll try to track these payments better in the future 🤔 I wonder why not go after this fraud and financial mismanagement that occurred while under full GOP leadership and oversight.

Here’s an idea if they’re so worried about eliminating property tax and not being able to afford schools, fire, etc… legalize marijuana like Colorado did.. Apply a high tax to it to ALL out of state residents like our vacationers, just like Colorado does…
In the first year of Colorado legalizing generated over 1 BILLION in revenue that was used for schools, fire, police, to run the community. Something Floridians have been voting to pass for years but didn’t pass last year by 1 %. Got over majority as required but narrowly missed the passing vote ….
