Also, to whoever said this was Fleetwood Mac's equivalent of The White Album - yes.

— @SerafinDrake

Released in 1979, Tusk is the ambitious double album that followed the massive success of Rumours, showcasing a band unafraid to take risks. With Lindsey Buckingham steering the group into more experimental territory, Tusk blends polished pop with raw, lo-fi textures, layered production, and an eclectic mix of styles. Despite its departure from the commercial polish of its predecessor, the album has become a cult favorite and a critical darling for its fearless innovation.

Track List:

Brilliant and underrated. My one gripe about this album is that the songs seem to lack theme and coherence, so that the overall effect is that of a massive collection of obscure B-sides, thrown together in a disorganized mish-mash. Maybe that's why this is a love-it-or-hate-it album? But what perfect B-sides they are! Put me in the camp of fans who love it. There are worse sins than chaos. Wasn't Fleetwood Mac, the band, just organized chaos anyway? They were a long-running soap opera with a soundtrack. This album embodies their chaos beautifully.

This double album, released after The Rumors, is a masterpiece. While not flashy, it's a deeply satisfying work that allows you to immerse yourself in the world of MacArthur just by listening carefully!! (^^)🎸🎧️🌸🎶☆

what a piece of sh*t ! I'm listening to this for the first time in 45 years. I remember why I was so disappointed with it back then. After Rumours, what an enormous disappointment !

Lindsey Buckingham is a petty songwriter with his "What Makes You Think You're the One" and "Not that Funny" and all of his other complaining songs about Stevie Nicks

When I was growing up I had a small sailboat, I named it Tusk

Suddenly, out of nowhere, "Walk a Thin Line" just now started playing in my head, not the whole song, but at least the rhythm of the chorus. I couldn't recall the title, but I suspected it was from Tusk. Weird. :-)

Tusk was Lindsey Buckingham’s effort at taking the band in a different direction. At the time of its release, it was treated like an abomination. Years later, the entire album feels like it was grossly underrated and pretty much a masterpiece.

I dont think this is their very best album. Some songs stand out. Like Storms, Brown Eyes, Thin Line, Sara, Beautiful Child, Tusk, That is all for Everyone and Over and Over. But the rest..does not.

Their best album by far.

@citywide2932

Hmm, many groups have a pre & post era following a big change, Genesis Gabriel/Collins, Sabath Ozzy/Dio, the list goes on, but the change from the original, and imho best line-up of Peter Green’s Mac to this is so marked. This is just ‘pop’ and if you like it, go for it, but not a patch on the original, soz.

I found a cd called Tusk by Camper Van Beethoven in early 03, i was a junior in high school. The album cover had a jackalope biting someones pant leg. I had never heard of them but thought it was funny and bought it. l love that album. I didn't know this was a Fleetwood Mac album until maybe 2010 and that the album I'd grew up on was a cover.

Album should have been condensed to a regular LP. Would have been received a bit better. There are some good tunes on this, but it's not as cohesive like the previous one's they made, and that was the point of course(Mostly if not all, Lindsay). It was the creative, try new things album., just needed to be condensed though.
