You didn't address the absolute worst shite Apple changed in Tahoe: you can no longer paste text into the dialogue window when creating a file!!! I've used a Mac for decades and this was always possible before..

— @rodandnathalie

macOS is a great operating system, but it's not without its flaws. In this video, I'm going to talk about 10 how to fix 10 of the biggest frustrations.

📖 Looking for the PDF?

I have been using Windows from around 1996 and been trying different Linux distros these past years. My god, Mac is awful! I bought it for my mom to do some basic tasks, like browsing web, watching youtube etc. There are so many things in the UI that suck, I can't even count them. I would never buy it for myself for my tasks.

Hi, thanks for all your content. My volume buttons only work if I press fn button on mac book pro. otherwise some strange script opens and closes when I press them. Have you ever seen this? It just out of nowhere started to do this. LOL

7:22 - Smart folders seem complicated

8:51 - Backspace doesn't delete

One thing that has started happening since I installed Tahoe - when I click on the program icon in the dock, instead of opening the program, it opens a finder window showing me the app in finder. Then to open the app, I have to click "Open". This isn't even consistent - sometimes it opens the app itself, sometimes the finder window. I have now idea how to force it to open the app every time as it used to. Otherwise it is a few extra clicks some of the time, but not all the time, so I can't even build an automatic habit of clicks.

— @Mizteefrost

9:46 - No cut and paste for files

10:32 - Dock shows recently closed Apps

Or press fn+esc to toggle between F-keys behaving as F-keys and F-keys perform as extra Apple functions.

— @Bowwow30

11:13 - Find a specific symbol

12:11 - Function keys don't function

How is command+shift+5 an easy option? one button, let's call it 'printscreen', that's what I call an easy option. I have never got used to this command and I added screenshot to the menu bar on top of my screen.

Option-click green dot also maximizes but leaves you the option of real full screen when you want it

Don't use Clean My Mac. Install Homebrew in Terminal and then install Mole. It's free and it does MUCH more than Clean my Mac

I’d like a Mac, but not until they’ve made it more logical/user-friendly.
Too many random modifiers to learn.

I have 2 issues in OS 26 that I haven't seen addressed anywhere. Any ideas? I have sent these issues to Apple via Feedback Assistant since beta 1. I don't expect a response from Apple but these issues remain.

1. In Music > Song > Get Info > Options > Volume Adjust & Equalizer are non-functional.
The settings are remembered but they don't have any effect. I have Soundcheck off and I have deleted the caches.

2. In Lock Screen > Turn display off when inactive... When I wake my iMac up my two External SSD Drives mount but my Thumb Drive does not. Even if the screen just goes dim before it goes black and I wake it up they mount. None of them should mount... just because the screen went dark and I woke it up.
I use Chronosync to mount an SSD, back up my Documents folder, and unmount it. I don't want them mounted otherwise.

ALSO: Not really and issue but I hate that in Music, the play dialogue is now overlaying the song lists. It looks very sloppy and it's harder to see and use. I don't care that it's at the bottom but the lists should stop above it.

1:46 When I click the red button of Photos app, it quits the app instead of closing it. It's confusing that some apps close and others quit when I click the red button.

MAC OS is so stupid complicated not finished, not user firendly system.. Bought new macbook and now tried last week to make it usable with help of Gemini, but it doesnt worked for me.. I gladly returned to user friendly Windows11 - it works out of the box and users dont need to customize it with hundreds of apps..

@ender_cz
@

Mac os is designed to be different.. JUST BECAUSE... No other reason. Needing to install a bunch of apps to get basic functionality. The way it does stuff for some scenarios makes no sense what so ever.

Since updating, my mac is SO slow and I can't even upload YouTube videos. What on earth should I do?

How about when you right click on a folder and press get info, my box always goes to the far left corner on the screen. It’s annoying since I have an ultra wide 34 inch. I always have to bring it to the middle of the screen to see it. Is there a fix for that ?

@devilblueduke

My biggest frustration is that the external drives as well as my main hard drive all reset on the desktop anytime my Mac restarts. Sometimes overlapping existing folders. I’ve tried everything to correct that but nothing works. So… if you’re taking suggestions for future tips. That would be mine :)
Thanks for everything - I often send your vids to my mom. lol.

2 different modifiers for delete actions for files and text .... consistency .... genius!

I just ordered my first MacBook, I am trying to get familiar with the MacOS experience hence why I ended up here... Coming from a long years of Windows, then dumped Windows to daily driving Linux for the past 4 years now... Watching these tips, all I could say is this -- MacOS is unnecessarily complicated. 😢

Separate UI size from display size/resolution on Mac OS would be nice.
For example, I use a 75 inch 8K (7680 x 4320) TV as a monitor. I have to use 1280 x 720 to be able to use the UI. WHY APPLE?!

@Kevin6t8
@

thank you for the keyboard combo CMD-DELETE to delete files

Using Spaces, is there a way to make it so that when I click on an app in the Dock it pulls the app’s window to my active/current Space, rather than dragging me across to the Space where the app lives/was originally opened? There are certain apps like Apple Calendar and Todoist which I want to always open in active/current space.

Apps like Finder and Messages work this way but I can’t seem to find a setting to make it work on other apps as well. Do you know if this is possible?

Apple, if common actions need you to press 3 keys, your UI is designed wrong.

@Stiggy767

I moved from Windows 10 because of the bloat. Mac is becoming more and more complex, It is is wasting my valuable time to get it to work to for me. Moving towards Linux to me,is building my requirements not been swamped with stuff I do not need.

2:20 this whole 3 finger drag section seems so unnecessary... just use the same finger for holding down on the menu bar an dragging around, super easy

I think it's easier to close an app by right or opposite clicking for lefties that app's icon in the taskbar and choosing Close rather than going all the way up top left

How about users coming over from Windows where if you drag folder to a location that has a folder of the same name, it will copy files that are not in both locations, but will ask if you want to overwrite files if there are files that have the same name. Mac just deletes the old folder and copies the new.
