When does the Bible ever say humans are the most important beings? Apologies if you just meant religion in general, but since Christianity's the biggest religion, I wanna clear things up. Colossians 1:16 clearly says all things that exist only exist for Christ our God. A religion that says God created everything for human pleasure makes humans the "gods" - basically, a cult. Philosophy is really cool, and even though I as a Christian disagree with most of these concepts, I'm really looking forward to delving into this. God bless all of you, I hope you find Truth in Christ our savior, our ransom who saved all those who believe on Him❤

I think the ultimate meaning of life is to survive. The manner and methods we use to survive will vary, and the development of civilization and society has input these social and systemic rules and systems to make survival more accessible but also now, in the current world. those mechanisms of survival are controlled by powerful groups of people, who exert their power and control over those systems becasue THEY want to survive.
We are conditioned to understand that going to school, learning and absorbing more information and becoming smarter and know more information and understand things, because we have been taught that in order to survive and be socially accepted, we need to have certain things and live a certain quality/standard of life, within the rules and laws we have created to live more "harmoniously" with others. Since money is the dominant form of exchange value, we aspire to acquire more money in order to have those things and quality/standard of life. And then there are rules that demand that we keep up with them in order to KEEP that life. Pay your bills, every month. Instead of struggling to hunt down, trap/kill/gather food, prepare it so that it is safe to eat, and then eat it without fighting with someone else over it, we have systems in place that make food accessible to get (stores - supplies by farms and factories), safe to consume (FDA laws and expiration dates and food nutrition science), and not necessarily a "limited" resource (because harming or killing someone for their food, stealing, is socially barred against by being a criminal behavior that is met with social and survival-affecting consequences -fines, jailtime). We pursue higher education because we are conditioned to believe that higher education, learning, and social development in a structured and safe collegiate environment prepares us for better income opportunities, networking, and therefore more likely able to achieve what we need and want to survive - access to money, resources in order to acquire shelter, food, water, companionship, medical care (barred by insurance and financial costs)
The existential crisis we are facing now is because those routes to survival are being controlled by someone else, and we are also becoming more aware through the connectivity we have with the rest of the world through internet and media that we understand this isn't okay, this isn't fair, and there are people suffering in so many variety and compounding of ways across the globe. It makes us feel even more insignificant. "1st world problems" - "omg, who cares if you lost your job? Children are getting kidnapped by ICE agents right here in your state. People in Somalia are being brutalized, this minority group is suffering from this and that, this minority group is dealing with that, this this this that that that"
We have become nihilistic because we feel powerless and overwhelmed with the expansiveness of the world and the feeling that even we see meaningfulness and significance in others, the entities and regulatiosn that control our lives do not recotnize that except as a means to increase their own significance. We become more and more dependent on them, and les and less able to spend time on ourselves and those close around us.
We don't see the value in exchanging thousands of dollars of debt and labor into schooling when it doesn't further our chances of surivval, but acutally burdens us further. We don't see the significance in pursuing a career if we are considered easily replaceable no matter how hard we work, how much we bend over backwards for acceptance and recognition in the role, whether you are a school custodian or a teacher or a scientist working in big pharma or some corporate office worker in a cubicle, or a mechanic, or a doctor fighting with insurance and pharmaceutical companies and hospital boards of trustees. We don't see any significance in buying food from stores when it might be filled with toxic chemicals and the people who work in the companies that make/prepare/package/deliver/sell the food are treated poorly, or the methods in which meat and produce are acquired are harmful to those beings and the environment and the people who work within and around those farms and companies.
It's all a huge yarn ball that keeps getting bigger and bigger and more tangled up and more difficult to navigate and untangle.
The manner in which we choose to survive is subjective. For some, that is accepting that things cannot be changed and doing your best to make it as pleasant and comfortable as possible. For others, it's taking action to incite change for more than just themselves but for people around them they love or for compassion for those they don't even know.

For me, I take kind of an agnostic perspective to meaning. I don't think we can really know if meaning is "real" or not because it's not something that can be measured or objectively analyzed, it's very subjective. Meaning is an illusion, but the idea that meaning is an illusion is also an illusion-we just don't know. I think the best thing to do is to try to avoid the comfort of certainty "just because I don't know that means everything is fine." Whether you think it's real or not, you're probably going to have to rebuild your system of meaning or alternatively your system of morality that guides your life. So I guess it's good to be open to the mystery. We probably won't ever know the ultimate answer, but at least we have the choice to create our own answers and the ability to change them or even build new ones. As much as it sucks to not know, I do think the freedom of not knowing is a pretty great upside.

I enjoyed watching this as a religious person, because yes my religion “gives me significance” but how do i grow or implement my significance. You write your own story and affect only the people who know of your existence. Views on life and philosophy is very intriguing

You predicated this video with a "whats the point of it all" based assessment position, when in reality its much simpler. Kinetic entropic forces are the reason you exist. simply put you exist to stop the decay of yourself.

For anyone struggling how to find their purpose in life. These verses of the Quran can help you if you wholeheartedly try to give these couple of verses a chance and there is a lot more than this if you research the Quran more.
I hope this can help you! If you have any questions feel free to ask!
“When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺.” (2:186)
"Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful". (25:70) -
This verse offers hope of forgiveness and a fresh start.
"Did you then think that We had created you without purpose, and that you would never be returned to Us?” (23:115)
“And We have certainly revealed to you verses [which are] clear proofs, and no one would deny them except the defiantly disobedient.” (2:99)
“And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you ever ask the people to worship you and your mother as gods besides Allah?” He will answer, “Glory be to You! How could I ever say what I had no right to say? If I had said such a thing, you would have certainly known it. You know what is ˹hidden˺ within me, but I do not know what is within You. Indeed, You ˹alone˺ are the Knower of all unseen.” (5:116)
“Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind.”(22:46)
The hoops atheists have to jump through in order to find a shred of meaning to their lives, exhausting
@hanskung3278i don`t know which is life meaning .... lol but nothing to do with all this 5h1t you are saying here, who cares all this? D13
@doriandorian-d7rNever ask someone to draw a conclusion for you. To ask someone to draw a conclusion for you, is like doing all the hard work to get something that brings you joy, and then letting someone else rob you of it.
@leoahlgren1I think that the existence of an immortal person is equally as absurd and meaningless as the existence of those who must die- in conclusion, you can't ever escape absurdity. Some days I even find myself thinking immortality is more meaningless than mortality.
@yourfavleech6308ignoring something does not stop its existence, so shutting your brain off to not think and get existential crisis will not answer the existence and purpose of that existential crisis
@orchid296our souls know God, but our minds don't. our minds need to learn about God, and our souls react to the mention and remembrance of God. we were created for a reason, if we were only created for living and nothing else, then why do we long for meaning? why do we question our existence? why do we wonder what happens after death? why don't other living things do the same? why do we get existential? we have a purpose and our souls long for us to realize this purpose. Everything was created; it is not a coincidence. Our creator is way greater than us, creation and creator have no similarity. The creator cannot be created, cannot be flawed, and owns everything, God is one. God cannot be born, God cannot die, God does not sleep, God does not eat, He does not need anything, everything needs him. Life's burdens and duties are there for a purpose. The reason we suffer is because life is not but a test, you can be tested with burdens, illness, loss, or blessings. God is all knowing, almighty, compassionate, merciful, God sees and know everything, what happened, what is happening, and what will happen. He knows everything while we know nothing, no matter how much we learn we will never know anything. Why do we do bad things if we are such a great deal? we all have an enemy, Satan. he hated us before our birth, he was arrogant, and when God told him to prostrate himself before Adam, he said "I am made of fire, and he is of clay. I am greater than him and i will not prostrate myself before him". He disobeyed God's command, and was proud, and pride is a sin. We have no right to be proud for what do we own? we don't own a thing, everything is God's. Satan urges us to sin, he makes sin look like freedom, he makes us proud, and pride blinds.

@moiseshernandez1823Camus is easily my favourite philosopher, edgy as he could get. Nietzsche is easily my least favourite, even lower than Donatien Francious. We don't matter. Nothing does. But the tea is ready. Drink up.

@goddessofmooI overthink, but you guys in the comments realy overthink a bit to much😂, first step at geting a life is go live out of city your mind will finaly get a sence of reality naturality and you will breath new fresh air of life and freedome.
@buuuu7691I mean, you can write everything in the Bible off as religious dogma, however, I do recommend at least reading Ecclesiasties. It actually covers a lot of these questions, for some reason most Christians just ignore this book of the Bible.
@andrewrivera190at 9:26 , does anyone know where the quote is from?
@maisy4820I've been reading a todd may book and also Milan Kundera's book. This video is perfect for me right now haha
@nurasha318So,Life is meaningless And insignificant
@MissionTopper_11such a sincere explanation!
@20hkn23Learn about the structure of law and inheritance and your purpose will truly become clear, as for meaning, well perspectives seem to always move so this is subjective to all who engage, although very powerful, the practice is delicate
@DallasStreetStockVery articulate!
@otiebrown9999Beautiful day to be a muslim 💪😉
@ManMan-x3hThis was such a great video! Didn't expect i'd be learning about japan public transport off that title lol.
Anyway, I enjoyed reflecting on your thoughts but mine continued in a different direction:
It struck me at 25:17 how easy it was to say Camus' interpretation is no more than a romanticization and self-pitying view of absurdity, just to defend Nagel's for the sole reason of being exclusive to humanity.
Sure, our own awareness is unique and allows us to identify the absurd, social issues and even matters within oneself. But the pain associated with those is also just as unique to us. I do not consider that the uniqueness aspect (which quite explicitely suggests being extraordinary) can be enough excuse to shrug it off and say "it's really not that bad".
How does that make it any better? I do not think the instrinsicness of a quality being "human" somehow justifies it. In fact, it is our own consciousness which allows us to judge these characteristics individually. There are plenty that I despise in myself and trying to remove, there are plenty in society as a whole which I think we would be better with, why would the Absurd be an exception?
Should we actually keep on suffering because of the Absurd due to the fact that it's human? That it is the only thing which differentiates us from the rest of living creatures?
I mean, can we really justify this suffering because it is only available to our species as a whole?
Aren't we missing the whole pain which comes with it and thus, romanticising it?
Paraphrasing 25:29 , isn't this the same case for nuclear war?
It is a product of our most interesting and advanced charactersitics: geopolitics, science, technology, culture, psychology...
It is because we are human (self conscious and self transcendent) that we are able to blow up the whole planet and cause all that devastation. No other creature has remotely the same level of destruction, but I think most people would agree that doesn't somehow justify it.
Idk maybe I'm no more than a pessimistic at heart, great video!
i actually want to highlight the fact that the first comment i read after watching this video is about casetify. Idk if its absurd or not. But the fact that this video was uploaded on my birthday is somehow meaningful.
@jaza3951I guess the thing you guys are missing out is the fact that you need to discuss the existence of ourselves and the creatures around us , that's from where you start the journey of finding yourself , and there where u can really see the value of things , I hope anyone who is reading this to study about ISLAM away from propaganda just try to give it a chance I promise you u gonna find answers ❤
@RedaTheEngineerPeople only seek meaning because they suffer. If they did not suffer, they would have no need for meaning.
@User24xDonquixote Doflamingo's "Children who've never seen peace and children who've never seen war have different values"
@nathankabangu6357I never got why people felt empty because of this, if anything this is like a video game where you can build your life, why would I want just some GOD to tell me what my life will be, this is freedom and right
