As a 30 year career journalist I am in awe of your ethics that equip you to be able to knock back a $1million "bribe/gratuity" from a gambling industry entity so that you remain free to criticise this parasitic industry. Journalistic champion.

DISCLAIMER - Updated May 2025

This program operates under the rhetorically hyperbolic banner “CRIME IS LEGAL” to highlight—and satirize—our view that modern enforcement mechanisms are lax, uneven and insufficient. The slogan does not assert that illegal conduct is actually permissible; it underscores regulatory gaps and the impossibility of declaring something as illegal on a factual basis.

Sports betting is becoming like cigarettes where the industry is so massive that we can’t ban it even though it’s insanely harmful

All content herein constitutes commentary and opinion based on investigative journalism conducted with (i) publicly available documents, (ii) interviews, and (iii) other verifiable sources. References to “scams,” “fraud,” “theft,” or related terms are made in the same rhetorically hyperbolic context of “CRIME IS LEGAL” and should not be taken as definitive findings of fact or legal conclusions. Facts, evidence, and independent analysis are used in this program to draw strongly opinionated conclusions, but it is important to draw a sharp distinction between the facts and evidence presented, and the opinions drawn based on such material.

No statement can or should be interpreted as a categorical declaration that any person has violated civil or criminal law unless a court has so ruled. Viewers are encouraged to examine the cited materials and reach their own conclusions.

I recently saw an honest betting app advertisement during ufc event. Don’t remember what app it was but it ends with 365. It was something like “did you win?” “ let’s just say the next round of omelette are in me” and everyone cheered 😂😂😂😂

@viixxi1983
@

The ads just keep coming. They actually encourage people now to make certain bets. I do a bit of sports gambling on MMA and have done pretty well. That said it is difficult to find bets that are good and one has to be careful not to get too eager. In total I may place 5 in a year and I have not put money in my gambling acct since opening it. I saw what happened to a guy I grew up with. He was grandson of a multimillionaire developer and he gambled all of it away.

Let's be fair, didn't it increase employment in America? Idk, but through msm and gaming sites, we now have pro gamblers, high tier/premier bettors, behavioural analysts, betting analysts who either use their blabber mouths or Paint. Fact is, WOW, u guys unleashed a whole new market 👏

I was listening to this video in the background while playing a cheap slot on one of our local betting platforms in South Africa and I won the Super Grand Prize, which admitted isn't much, but a nice chunk of change, I was down to last few spins too.
Just struck by the irony of it all.

My opinion is that as long as you're not losing tons of money, it's fine, but I know a lot of people who have issues with stake because it's so hard to actually quit. It's really hard to get yourself blocked

You can’t regulate human behavior but you can regulate companies. They shouldn’t be able to spend as much as they do on advertising.

Funny how the character of Maxwell would usually be on the other side of this issue as comedic relief, but the issue is serious that Coffee chose not to do that.

We went to a local pub and were seated by 2 separate groups of college students. ALL, including the girls, were on their phones and were going back and forth about they're wins/losses, how much time they spend on it, problems with family, no time to date and even discussing how their grades are dropping from gambling in class. What a way to start adulthood...in debt, with addictions, no family or social connection and failing school.🤔

I don't bet and never have done ever and I have zero interest in starting either, but YouTube heavily heavily promote betting apps and games as well I'm absolutely sick of the adverts because nearly every set of adverts has either a betting app or game advertised.

Here's to hoping all the rich gamblers going bankrupt because they were lucky before with their gamble, it takes just one or two big gambling transact to wipe them out. Unlike a financial guru risk averse like myself. To get to my level it takes a decade of education and couple decades of hands on self improvement learning equipped with DISCIPLINED flawless character and integrity. Talent is very hard to come by. LOL.

I just dont gamble most of gambling I do is put 10-15% of my wage on exchange-traded funds. It's a choice to gamble or not.
