The idea of Eternity itself being awful and unbearable is in itself a somewhat religious cope to not worry about death.

I like the brevity of the article, but I wish it covered atomic decay and eventual proton decay. But perhaps that would be an end to our hero's suffering

You know what I would do after a while? I would attempt to guide evolution, since there ARE animals in the space, so potentially I could cultivate another sapient species within. It would take millions of years, but maybe I could try it out.

what would happen if a dog was in something like this for that amount of time? would it still be relatively the same after trillions of years?

2:15 I wish the writer had been more precise about the passage of time inside the space VS how the DANTE (not sure how its spelled) records it in outside time. The article implies DANTE records an ungodly amount of time but never mentions how long it takes IRL to record that much time. One part of me smiles at the thought of it being the same rate as IRL time, with one single researcher devoting his entire life to analyze Paul's Afterlife every day, eventually dying of old age and passing the task onto another, who does the same thing, with the Foundation existing for just as much time as DANTE has recorded. Or maybe the Foundation stopped existing at some point and DANTE kept recording, sending the data nowhere as the physical storage unit for the data has either been destroyed by something or stopped functioning.

I thought this SCP was pretty much a massive waste of space and time for just one human soul considering it implies every human soul has its own cube, meaning whatever creates this requires more and more spatial cubes as humans are multiplying... until a horrific thought came to me: the scientists say our universe is expanding, no?

Some afterlife people or souls think that scp-7179 is a heaven paradise, but this was all a lie...

He should have just left

@Beef_maestro1

Pleasurable emptiness. I really hope that the human brain can run out though, idk how to put it but at some point the brain stops working and you either fully stop functioning or you start forgetting experiences and finding joy again in activities you've partaken in ages ago.

@420J42
@

This is the most terrifying SCP

@Lja_626
@

This Is a cooI sch within friction but aint possible

@AnythingIdk-u8r
@

My favorite SCP ever.

@Tryptych90
@

This reminds me of the plot of Everhood. Specifically the parts of excessive cruelty and self-harm to remain stimulated in infinity.

@tikki2340
@

It realy puts into perspective that the single worse punishment you can give to someone is subject them with boredom

@Sinistralitee
@

This reminds me of how when I first played Kingdom Hearts, that first level really intrigued me, its this Island in an endless beautiful ocean with a great song looping, it made me wonder if it would be great to spend eternity in that place, until I realized that it would be incredibly nightmarish, there are people, which were Tidus, Wakka, Selphie there's also Kairi and Riku but they provide you no stimuli, they're simply prompts for interaction, they'll just repeat the same stuff over and over again, I remember just leaving the game standing for about 30 minutes and just see how nothing really changes since you're not making it change, Tidus will keep swinging that stick, ,Wakka will hold that blitzball and Selphie would be sitting in that dock forever, I'm glad that feeling of dread is portrayed in this story.

@Sinistralitee
@

“All permutations of particles within the space have been reached”

What does that mean 😨?

@d.olivergutierrez8690
@

I kinda find it funny that for a while his life kinda seems like a game of Minecraft.

@Fulllife3.2
@

I do find one issue with this, though. Paul is in a place where he’s always in perfect health, even after maiming himself. Who’s to say his mental health issues don’t act the same way? He’d be in a paradise where he can’t stay mad, depressed or insane. He’s in a place where he’s eternally complacent.

Also, time would no longer be of any concern because there would be no way to measure it.

@AlexanderComics
@

I rather have this then dying....

@stelttax999
@

Probably the scariest SCP ever to me

@malcolmcooke7131
@

I’m amazed it took him so long to change between states of madness

@UCannotDefeatMyShmeat
@

If it’s not just a 10 km edge-to-edge space, then maybe Paul can entertain himself for a bit longer than 1 trillion years.

An infinite space of landmasses that resembles the Gourmet World (Toriko) , Dark Continent (Hunter X Hunter) or just endless variations of landscapes with same numerous types/species of flora and fauna, then maybe, he can go on before a second of Eternity can pass.

@Czar684
@

The real issue with this eternity is that there are no other entities and little space, given the vast ocean of time.

@DarkVeghetta
@

So, The Sims of afterlives, but without the DLCs and no modding. Horrifying, imagine playing base Sims.

@DarkVeghetta
@

Looks like he found Hell.

@TheOtherSteel
@

I don't know about that look pretty easy,I can stay at my house for what... 10 years? if I would like, doing the exact same things

@rahav2324
@

All he was need is another three real people together they will make culture , and that will be enough to hold for eternity

@rahav2324
@

Who's collecting all the data trillions of years in the future and how do they know it now?

@NortheastGun
@

I grew up near the beach and am not a big fan of “tropical” areas so even the honeymoon period of this would suck.

Drop me in a never ending Pacific Northwest with rain and trees :)

@JMiN___

All i can focus on is the fact that id be in a perfect place with 3 women who have to do whatever i say

@MisterS1r007
@

Paul who never left his cube: 😭
Curious George who did it in 2 minutes :👁️👄👁️
Grug who did it in 5 seconds: 🗣️ it's easy man
Godzilla who... Oh yeah, no one can stop him 😅

@Paxsquad-prime1
@

An interesting alternative ending to this is after a googolplex of years, he’d figured out how to make complex simulations indistinguishable from reality. And so is the origin of the universe

@Dank_Engine
@

This one is silly because how did the SCP team monitor billions of years. Is time passing faster in the SCP or is it suggesting that the report is written very far into the future.

@h.walker1332
@

am I one of the few that actually thinks scp-2718 is worse than this?

@Cairogold
@

Goosebumps at 1 second of eternity has passed. Ive listened to a lot of SCPs but this one was the first one that got me into SCP universe. Keep coming back to it from time to time. While the story is great, the ambient music also provides more depth.

@Durgmar
@

This is how long SpongeBob and Squidward worked at the Krusty Krab.

@bloodfalcon5611
@

I have a terminal brain illness too, hope I don't end up like Paul

@robyncore
@

This reminds me of the other world from coraline in a way, the way the island world is so small and you try to leave, you just come back to it
