Exercise Scientist’s FASTEST Way To GAIN Muscle
Video Overview & Insights
Most people think you need to train for hours every week to build muscle. But sports scientist Dr. Mike Israetel says that’s outdated and completely wrong.
Dr. Mike shares how 20 minutes twice a week can trigger visible gains, why 5 or 30 reps both work, and what actually causes your muscles to grow. From warming up smarter to coming back stronger after long breaks, this is real science that challenges everything the fitness industry wants you to believe.

Work hard push yourself and eat healthy no sugar and no crap in your body get out exercise and breathe good air. Failing that take testosterone 😂
– Why short, focused workouts are enough to build muscle
– How 5 or 30 reps per set can both give you the same results
Dr Mike is great, though nearly put me off trying HIT or the Mike Mentzer method. Glad I took my own advice as it is working so well for me in my late 40's. Great gains, best gains ever in all honesty. Working out every 4 days, taking everything to failure and for a guy in his late 40's it has been the ultimate game changer. Great results and no injuries which I presume is down to the longer recovery. Any way, works for me.
– The truth about “muscle memory” and rapid gains
– How fast you lose muscle when you stop training
Funnny semantics. I used to do it. Tossing th word science on things as if explains everything typical academic semantics. Funny how I used to do this. For decades. Actually funny and annoying.
– What a proper warm-up really looks like (and why most people waste time)
– Why you build muscle after the gym, not in it
His head also looks like a muscle
– How beginners can train just twice a week and see results for months

@Francis1bfitnessWhat are the skull exercises
@corporategreedy2kif you have fast twitch fibres ( is your reaction time high & are you a sprinter ? if so probably you do. then you do 6-10reps.
if you're a distance runner then do higher rep ranges, 15-20.
based on what distance you're best at you'll be built differently, whether that's sprinting, so you've got a high concentration of fast twitch muscle fibres like me, or long distance where your body designed for endurance.
once you figure this out you can much more effectively train for hypertrophy.
why I get people I know to do a jog and then a sprint .
I see how fast they can sprint flat out compared to their current fitness ( 5k time ) .
I find comparing both to nominal averages by age is quite helpful, with people scoring higher on one of the categories being a nice indicator for the style of training they need to do.
and if it fits perfectly on average?
they're a blank slate so I tell them to just follow normal sets of 8-12
5:51 was probably the dumbest question I heard the whole interview 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🚀
@KentuckyJGottaBlastSomeone else on here has commented the best explanation ile recommend it - train to the point we’re it’s uncomfortable and u can hardly do it anymore because that’s when ure body triggers the response of adapting the muscles to become bigger and stronger also you need to eat the right food so that the muscles can intake the things they need to repair and grow
@theyliebutwhy8101to summarise - if 20 lbs is your working weight for 15 reps last week
you will warm up 12 reps with 5lbs
rest 1 minute
8 reps with 10-15lbs
rest 1 minute
4 reps 20lbs
rest 1 minute
working set 20lbs at 16 reps
same again next time by adding a rep to the last set, or increasing the weight
Remember Mike is on steroids....his advice leans towards accelerated recovery
@deanblaze2000A dude on roids tells me to hit all muscles 3-4 times a week, master of reflection.
@allupintheair4426Dr. Mike thank you so much I hope I can heal my body I am loosing weight too fast and no test can tell me why atm .. wish i can find what is going on with my body but in the meantime I hope this amazing advice works
@NaarvanaI eat my red meat med rare because Raw red meat and fish are the best natural sources of creatine, typically providing roughly 0.3g to 0.5g per 100g (or roughly 3-5g per kilogram) of uncooked weight
@FinancialConsultdotcodotzaMike's cranium shape stresses me the fk out
@seeks1986Great discussion. One subject really hit home......retraining. after 10 years away from workouts, I started training again at 61. My muscle re-growth was significant by 63. I moved away from an 8ish rep workout to 15-25 reps. The gains have been obvious enough that I've been questioned wheather I'm on TRT. 😂......sure got me thinking 😅

@teeteee198314:17 facts. Used to have pretty nice biceps, could bicep curl 45lb dumbbells with good form pretty easily. Haven't worked out besides playing with my son for 4 years. Got back into working out last week, 2 pull sessions and my biceps and forearms are pretty much back to where they were.
@jcg702Never heard of periodized plans lol - the current age of media and identifying experts is so different than just a few years ago.

@jamesanderson2712So I don’t need 20 minutes of warm-up with bands, I can start warming up with weights right away?
