Let's goooo! I started playing tennis a couple of years ago, at the young age of...35, now 37. And it's AWESOME. The physical activity is great, and the endless thechnicalities really tickle my tism. And I do concurr, lessons of some sort will go a long way in making sure things stay fun, and you avoid injury. It's way too easy to just swing with just your arms and wrists and eventually hurt yourself.

But yeah, all in all, it's just a fun time!

More tennis content! I 100% agree with you about lessons. For any sport. I am amazed at how many people actually boast about never having taken a lesson. No matter how athletic you are, it will just accelerate your progress. As you said, if private or semi private lessons are too expensive, just take group classes and meet a lot of cool people!

Great video for tennis enthusiasts. I would add USTA league is a great way to meet other players and play more tennis. Multiple teams if your schedule permits.

I would like to ask you something. What is your opinion about tennis racket grip tapes (or what those are) when it comes to beginners? I remember I struggled with grips during tennis lessons. They felt bad so many times. Do you have any tips regarding such issues?

1) The little hop you mentioned that Pros take on the service return is called a Split Step. It is actually used before every stroke except the serve. Many YouTube videos on it. It is both a physical and mental technique. Very important, if you watch pros you will see them use it before every shot. Done correctly it gives the slow average speed, the average above average speed and turns fast people into ball retrieval gods.
2) The Continental grip is the most important grip in tennis. It is used by advanced players to hit ever stroke in tennis except specifically the forehand topspin ground stroke and the one handed topspin backhand. It’s definitely something that separates those who can can reach 4.5 in a few years from 3.5 lifers. Your very last stroke in this vid was a overhead hit using your Semiwestern forehand grip. This tells me you haven’t learned the Continental grip as it should have been used there. Getting players to adopt this grip probably induces the biggest headaches that coaches experience. That is why 3.5 is the biggest ranking while 4.5/5.0 is the smallest. There are many 3.5 players that have the raw athletic ability to play 4.5 level tennis but are blocked by a iron ceiling of bad technique that starts with failure to adopt the Continental grip.
3) Learning tennis is not the same as playing tennis. Many tennis players, few tennis students. 😢

I didn't see you practicing serves with a bucket of balls, or using a back board by yourself, or doing hand drills. I loved all the skill drills as a kid. I also liked the tethered ball to practice my self, when I couldn't get to a court. Brings back a lot of good feelings watching you play and getting so much out of this hobby. You are definitely a "tennis-girlie".
