I know you're never gonna see this, but I just recently found some free tomato and pepper plants on the side of the road and am interested in growing them. The plant is already around 4 inches tall but there's no label on it telling me if it's determinate or indeterminate and what variety it is. Is there any way I can tell by looking at the leaves/stem or do I just need to wait and find out?

All my cherry tomatoes are growing against a chain-link fence have totally outgrown their cages. And today we're having some kind of crazy wind storm! So I'm out frantically tying up tomatoes before they snap. And my sweet little overgrown kittens are out here to assist. They think that they are highly helpful as they attack the string in the wind as I'm trying to tie a tomato vines! LOL 😸🐈🐈⬛ they're just too darn cute to shoo away. A helpful hint gardening with house cats. I dug out and created them their own little poo garden. And filled it with fluffy dry cedar wood chips so it doesn't smell. That keeps my Little darlings from peeing and pooing all over the garden and scratching up my new seedlings. Plus, I covered everything with a layer of composted leaf litter. They don't seem to like to dig into crackly wet leaves. Nothing is grosser than weeding out your garden bed and getting your hands right in the middle of some cat crap!🤢

Iv had the opposite experience with bushing tomatoes. If I don't trim the suckers off, it gets way too bushy & gets blight every time. When I trim the suckers, the blight doesn't set in until early fall

The cheap round tomato cages are actually really good for hot peppers. They should be called pepper cages.

if you turn "regular cheap" tomato rings upside down and just use a lawn staple or similar to secure it to the ground..... the weight of the plant will hold it down anyway... I really cannot understand why anyone ever tried to turn the "narrow SIDE" down........ you can get more than one tomato on them upside down.

Show me your tomato trellises at the end of the season… no matter what method I choose they always go so wild. I need trimming tips to keep them from gaining sentience and trying to take over my garden.
01:54 - Tomato Varieties
02:17 - Pruning Tomatoes
I started gardening thinking tomatoes were one of the “easy” plants and now I realize they’re basically a full-time science experiment 😂 Between pruning, watering, fertilizer, diseases, support systems, and variety differences… there’s way more to this than people realize. Videos like this have been helping me a ton as a beginner container gardener in South Carolina.

10:08 - When To Harvest
So far my single leader or no pinch experiment says no pinch.. in my experience pinching causes the plant to focus more on growth than fruit.

11:17 - Tomato Confit Recipe
My conical cage is strong and was cheap, not sure how flimsy that are available, but the two I have on the patio in five gal buckets are tough.
I had to use a hacksaw with bi-metal blade to trim off the bottom 4 inches.

Y'know, I grow in a greenhouse with ventilation & heat & lights and all that to get higher yields.
YESTERDAY, it hit me. - WHY not just grow more plants outside? I'm so dumb.
Next Year.

I've got six tomato plants in pots about 4ft tall. Lots of yellow flowers that turn brown and fall off and a large crop of leaf minors. Sprayed Seven all over them 3 times still no tomatoes. Just yellow flowers and leaf minors.
