Bro the Black Cauldron is such an underrated gem. Idk it has a dark edge to it and the comedic relief isn’t really a comedic relief. He has like 4 jokes across the movie and kills himself because he realizes hes a coward with no friends. The Horned King’s death was really gruesome. The 3 main protagonist were all pretty based. Besides the old dude. He’s useless. Whenever Taran falls into the water, and the girl and the unc reach out for him they immediately fall out bc of his old ahh. Besides that it’s a pretty solid 8/10 movie for me

I tried watching Dinosaur for the first time as an adult with my children, and it was so mehhh that I turned on The Good Dinosaur as an entertaining alternative 😂

As a Mexican who grew up in the U.S. (Chicana), I enjoyed Los 3 Caballeros, but it could have been better, they should've toned it down with the duck because he was crossing into objectifying territory. But as a kid, it felt really comforting to find a childrens film that was celebrating latino heritage, as I remember, it was overall positive representation. When I watched it as a kid I was still learning English, and I remember the movie made me feel seen and made me feel like not all white people hate hispanics, because at the time as a child growing up in a small racist town I felt like most caucasians hated my ethnicity. I forgot this movie existed, and now I want to rewatch it, it is very nostalgic to me. I loved the penguin because I saw myself in him, he wanted to move to South America and did not fit in with the cold north pole, and thats how I felt growing up like I was in the wrong place. I also loved Panchito and his singing, the birds were very loveable, I wish the green parrot was not portrayed smoking a cigar, and I wish it wasn't centered on them being 3 gentlemen, instead it could have been something like Los 5 Amigos, and they couldv'e added two girl birds to the group too.

Fun fact: Fox and the Hound was a turning point at Disney. Don Bluth, who’s known for movies like land before time and American tale, left Disney when FATH was in production because he felt Disney lost the magic it had back in the early days. He left with a good chunk of other Disney animators who decided to join Bluth to make their own films. After Fox and the hound, Disney was struggling hard while Bluth made movies that became more acclaimed than their own. The biggest blow was when American tale and land before time beat out great mouse detective and Oliver and company respectively. After Oliver, Disney knew they had to up their game if they were to be on top of the animation game again, and did so with their first big comeback in Little Mermaid, which completely destroyed Bluth’s film at the time Dogs go to Heaven. So in fact, Don Bluth leaving Disney during Fox and the Hound is what gave Disney the push they needed to start up the Disney Renaissance.
