Memo to the future: I’ve supported Chelsea since 2006. I’m 30 now, but back then I was just a kid with Shevchenko posters on my wall. Sheva was my favorite player, and even though I didn’t know much about football yet, leaving Chelsea for another club felt like betraying him. That loyalty stuck with me. Players like Ballack, Drogba, Kalou, and Robben only made me love the club more — they’re the reason I became a fan.

And there have been so many moments only real fans remember with a smile: Kalou quietly stepping up in big games, Ballack dragging us through tight title races, Cech saving us time and time again, Lampard’s goal against Bolton that sealed the league, Essien’s rocket against Barcelona, Drogba’s last-minute equaliser in Munich, Ivanović’s header in the Europa League final, Hazard tormenting Arsenal and Spurs, Terry lifting that last Premier League trophy, and even the joy of watching young players like Mount, Reece James, and Tammy breaking through. Those are the memories that made it worth it.

But I’ve also lived through the hard times: Mourinho’s collapse in 2015/16 when we looked like a relegation side, the sanctions and sale in 2022, and the awful 2022/23 season, the worst I’ve ever seen. Losses like West Brom’s 5–2 and Brentford’s 4–1 at the Bridge still sting.

I come from one of the poorest countries on the continent, but my support never changed. Through good and bad, through trophies and humiliation, I’ve always stayed blue. To anyone reading this in the future — that’s what being Chelsea means. #COYB💙
