There is nothing interesting and smiling at this news! Humankind at its best! Instead of saving the dying planet, we are preparing for worldwide war and destruction. Great! National service will happen, that is a certainty, all young unemployed men from 18 to 50 years of age will be called up for a minimum of one year.
Sorry, but it has to happen, work shy will not be happy.

You know, making it also compulsory for women makes it more tolerable. I am Australian and we don't have this here at all, but if they introduced it, I would only find it tolerable if they made it mandatory for women as well, if they only made it mandatory for men I would feel like I am being exploited by society as a whole.

The end of conscription after 1997 directly correlates to when the country was accepted, invited or applied to NATO within < 5 yrs, descending in time.

Extending it from 4 to 11 months? As someone who served a 4 year minimum twice that's wild man. Denmark you do you, I just couldn't imagine adjusting to military life in less than 12 month of active duty because it's sort of a culture shock.
