EQUIFAX: Identity Theft - What I had to do!

I have Lifelock that alerted me my ssn was recently stolen so I just froze all 3 equifax , experien and trans union. I will be calling social security Monday to put a freeze on that and calling Lifelock Monday to ask if there is anything else I should do. I keep an eye on my credit reports and I do get alerts from credit wise and I pay for Lifelock annually and I pay them extra to have my info periodically deleted from those data brokers that sell our info that should be illegal but it isn’t. Everyone ks getting their identity stolen bc everything is getting hacked from hospitals , medical insurance companies , banks. Everyone needs to keep up on there credit reports and use VPN while being on the web. I’m trying to do everything I can but no joke someone can really put a damper on your life if they start opening loans and credit cards etc in your name or use your name for medical coverage.

Now all I have to do is get on the Credit bureaus and unfreeze. I only have to log in and hit unfreeze. Yes it’s a pain but worth it I think

I Felicia Gonzalez has identy theft done to me a year ago I did file police report now I need to contact the three credit burrows Equifax and Experian and trans fax credit burrows for my identity theft happening to me now .

I think I’m a victim now and I’m 21 I can’t open up any bank accounts but someone jus tried to open a credit card in my name last week while I was sleep

1) file FTC affidavit; 2) file crime report; 3) cfpb report (optional); 4) submit to all CRAs; 5) call a consumer attorney if the accounts aren’t removed. Many take these cases on Contingency.

Does equifax helps you to protect your personal information

I put a freeze on all three credit bureau's, and I froze all of my credit cards,someone tried to file, unemployment in my name, I have never even file for unemployment, and I have been retired for 14 years, smh

Sigh. Going through it. The loan company are trying to say it isn’t fraud, even though the email and phone number are not mine, but the theif’s. It’s so disgusting. My credit score is wrecked.

Hi, I am an international student, the scammers got access to my phone, and my details like full name and address, my phone had pictures of my passport and SIN number, I didn't lost any money but I am concerned about them using my information to take loans and credit cards. I only had one bank account that I have already closed and blocked my credit card too. When I went to the police, they just told me its a common scam and they were just after my money so I don't need to worry about it. But I am still concerned. I don't know what to do now just to be on safe side. I tried calling trans union and equifax but it was really hard to understand over the phone. Please help me out.

They hijacked my phone number and were able to use it until I shut the phone number.

What if I’m not sure if my identity’s been stolen or not? A scammer has a copy of my drivers license and my phone number… how do I figure iut if they’ve done something with that?
Also, if I get my license # changed due to possible identity theft, will that make my car insurance increase?

I will not do 2 factor authentication. I will not become my phone. If we managed before cell phones, we can still manage.

I've fallen victim to identity theft at the moment. Unfortunately they have my ID, my SIN n all. Trying to figure out and stop things before they go back. Please advise if there's anything I can do for the peace of my mind.

Hey ik this super old but are you still fighting identity theft to this day I believe I may be a victim I took the steps of freezing calling my bank changing passwords even the cards themselves, I even called the ftc regarding the issue. But I just want to know if this is a constant thing because since then I’ve been non stop freaking out and not even eating half the time

I am 21, just got scammed 😅 can’t believe I fell for it. I froze my social security, canceled my cards, going into my bank tmw to change bank accounts, fraud alert active, froze my cash app and calling irs tmw to report it.

A scammer got a hold of my address email credit info and social and dob I understand everyone on being sick it instantly made me sick I was sweating nothing has happened yet but I wouldn’t put it past me I hope y’all get that handled be safe out thwre

Someone stole my identity and I am not able to get my experian or transunion credit reports because they cant verify my identity, I believe its because they are using the other persons information. I was only able to access my equifax credit report and it has wrong information on it. If I place a fraud alert with equifax will the other two agencies send me the credit reports that I am not able to access? Or how can I get the other two so I know whats wrong on them and what I need to correct?

What if your I'd card was stolen/lost ,what do u do? Sure I can get a replacement but is there anything I can do to stop something like this from being used in the first place ?
