I dunno man I took a water bottle out of a cooler a couple times, I feel pretty good.

— @Afflicting

As the arrow of time pushes us forward, each day the universe inches closer to maximum entropy. And when that does happen, the lights just might turn back on, and for all we know, we might just end up back at square one.

I like the idea that, though Entropy looks like Chaos winning over Order, ultimately, once everything has flattened out to perfectly and universally 'samey', it is actually revealed that Order has won out.

ENTROPY has nothing to do with disorder. It has to do with EQUILIBRIUM of ..........or........SPREADING OUT of .....energy in a system so NO WORK CAN BE DONE. If i pour HOT water into COLD water the system can do work with the differential of heat energy in the system. So the system tries to move towards EQUILIBRIUM by SPREADING OUT the heat energy EVENLY throughout the system. When the system's temp is at EQUILIBRIUM and the heat energy is SPREAD OUT evenly then the system can no longer do any work and is at the system's highest entropy...........AT EQUILIBRIUM.
As you can see the hot water and cold water when mixed are DISORDERED AT FIRST and then over time the heat energy becomes more EVENLY spread out until EQUILIBRIUM which is MORE ORDERED. So saying entropy is about a system going from ordered to disordered is not right.

Pretty sure Arthur will have died of old age by the time you get to actually talking about entropy.

Order as a "more specific arrangement" made so much sense! I understood what entropy was, but I never truly got why it was related to disorder. I could always justify it being called so, almost like excuses, but never the motivation for it. Now it makes sense

Which, the heat death can be avoided and overcome if you know the right science.

Here in 2024, here to put the name for the large number at 7:40. Ahem

Three hundred forty undecillion, two hundred eighty two decillion, three hundred seventy nonillion, eight hundred eight quintillion, six hundred forty quadrillion, three hundred four trillion, thirty two billion, six hundred eighty eight million, one hundred ninety two thousand, eight hundred and ninety six. (Thank you adventure capitalist)

Would’ve been longer but there was 9 zeros back to back that we didn’t have to account for

7:45 For anyone else wanting to know, 340,282,370,000,000,000,808,640,304,032,688,192,896 is 340 undecillion, 282 decillion, 370 nonillion, 808 quintillion, 640 quadrillion, 304 trillion, 032 billion, 688 million, 192 thousand, and 896. At least with the American names for large numbers. American and British large numbers differ at billion.

The part about 'contained space' is the problem. We are not in a contained space therefore the probablity increases and is only contained in the number of particles

Here i wanna ask u a question brother. Since u r the guy who was trying to relate entropy with most phenomena of real life, now tell me this... why does a person goes into comma, that process is decreasing entropy right... also why does a person die then......

Well i gave it a thought and here is what i have concluded -- After a certain time period the cells of a living creature weaken and they are not able to generate new ones.. so they cannot do any physical work that leads to maximum entropy of the universe or in other words the organism is unable to practice any sort of function which leads to increased disorder or randomness. Instead he becomes less mobile and his internal system is very ordered in terms of entropy, like cells organise to form tissues which organise to form an organ and so on.... So the organism tends to Die!!!!!!

~Please do tell me if my explanation makes any sense or not...........

I came here to hear about the cosmological =big but I've spent 5:12 listening speak on this thing in humanistic terms=small. I wish someone would make the unified theory aka the theory of everything =big/small.

So what you are saying, if i understand this entire thing right, is that the possibility of the universe reigniting is not not 0, but if you take a possibility and extend over an infinite amount of years, that probability should be 100 %, so the universe will hit the hard reset and start again, we won't be here to see it. But Someone will that is an insane thought. Quite cool isn't it. I always questioned the complete end of the universe, but this makes perfect sense to me.
