@PaperWill, I know this is a 4 year old video but when talking about heaven's gate there's a lot of info that was wrong. Originally they preached/believed (not sure) that when they died they would get resurrected and then bored the spaceship, all of this in front of other people. Also, Applewhite and Nettles where more co-partners rather than leader/sub-leader. Anyway back to the entire resurrection thing, Nettles ended up dying due to surgery complication, and (obviously) she did not in fact get resurrected. This led to Applewhite having 1) a mental crisis + depression and 2) changing his statement saying that asencion could be spiritual and not physical. He also became even crazier enforcing stricter hierarchy (replacing the cult emphasis of individual choice with seeing him as moderator and encouraging member to see him as a christ). He also became even more paranoid, started talking a lot about the apocalypse and thought there were evil aliens (called luciferians) that came to earth and were trying to thwart him.
