During the time of the Wild West, stagecoaches were the primary mode of transportation on dangerous routes.

The person sitting next to the driver, known as the "shotgun messenger", carried a shotgun to protect the stagecoach from bandits or attacks.
This seat became associated with vigilance and protection.

Teenagers began using it in the context of "calling dibs on the front seat," a phenomenon that became popular in the 1950s and 1960s with the rise of cars and youth culture.

Hi Rachel
I have a question about spelling

Why does the title read
"100's"?
Does that mean "hundreds"?
I'm confused about the apostrophe spelling
How about "100s"? Would it be incorrect?

Professor Rachel, as I watched your video on pronunciation, I thought that it might be a great idea for you to compile all the material in your countless videos into one book and have it published in printed form with accompanying videos. I know it would be a huge project involving much time and and a great deal of painstaking work including planning, drafting, revising, editing, polishing, and perhaps even researching, but it might be worth the effort. It might not be such a good idea after all, but I just wanted to share it with you. I enjoyed your video very much. I also commend you for your videos with the portrayal of a fast runner as a fitting metaphor for the ability to listen to, understand, and respond quickly to fast English. Thanks a million for using your gift for teaching English and helping students to develop a wide range of language skills so successfully.
