England OUT! The Thomas Tuchel Debate & Why England Failed Again...
Video Overview & Insights
Paul, Nicky & Paddy welcome Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink for a sombre episode of The Good, The Bad & The Football, reflecting on England's 2-1 loss to Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals.
Expectations are sometimes too high especially when we play the reigning champions. we didn't get knocked out by a individual mistake we battled with the nasty dirty aggressive side that cheated their way through the Egypt game and we don't have a Messi equivalent!!!

Once Argentina stepped it up, England struggled. Lucky it wasn't 3 or 4! Lucky to reach the semis. Average team, apart from Bellingham.

Gonzalez for Parades changed the whole game. Had 2 chances between 64-72 mins. Tuchel paniced and sent on Konza for Gordon when it should have been for James who was struggling.

After England scored there was lots of space around the Argy full backs, i thought they were there for the taking at that moment.

What happen? Is it Thomas Tuhel? Answer - No, it is more of a sheepish/loser mentality. For 60 years, ranked top 3 or at least top 5 and playing every two years, rotating between Euro & WC, and mostly losing in the same manner by being scared or outplayed by higher game IQ teams (Croatia, Italy, Argentina, etc.). Every tournament, everyone sounds so arrogant, though, and all "It's coming home" crap. England just sucks, my friends, and can only beat up on smaller teams (however, not always - think of Iceland). See you in 28 - good luck!!

James had to come off because he's unreliable and not fit... That's the managers fault for taking him over others.
@thejtizzelNicky gets it a plan good young players keep them together have a winning attitude
@jesushitler2000Get rid took the wrong players and went negative same old story same the same shit BTW Don't pimp gambling lads !
@jesushitler2000Im scottish by the way aha and with klopp going to Germany he said he wants to rip the script up with there whole system and use that mentality or he wouldn't take the job on so they've identified that and are willing to give it a go and the same goes with scotland we need this aswell
@giggsy2022Correct butty you look at the academies in Spain they have coached youngsters to play with the ball and possession and that trumps everything
@giggsy2022Tuchael, He gets aa shot at the Euro's no question! Why, he is widely respected as a great coach, you have to stick to your decision to appoint Before the tournament I would have been happy to have a semi - final place. Interesting listening as ever, our I.D debate was thought provoking.
@rotolskyshieldThe problem ainβt the technical qualities of the players, the problem is psychological, when they get to semi or finals and if they take the lead they canβt handle the pressure/expectation of we might win the cup so it becomes we canβt lose this instead of trying to win itβ¦.
@CJ-kq8jeScholes saying we need a midfield who control the game..... We had Scholes lampard Gerrard and Beckham in the same team and they couldn't control the midfield, they did worse than this lot ffs
@j1m909Spence is no better than wan bissaka, I'd say wan bissaka is better
@j1m909Hearing this analysis Iβm realizing the issue might be our lack of ruthlessness. We, England, seem to lack a ruthless edge that is needed to push the team to the next level.
Argentina & France have that ruthlessness and when they have an opponent on the ropes or they sniff blood in the water they become merciless and exploit that weakness. We need to build that mentality early on. How? Iβll leave that to the experts but itβs definitely needed.
I would argue that it's time for a change in goalkeeper
@garethpriestley9545Honestly, the referee in the England vs. Argentina match looked like a witness who saw absolutely nothing. Argentina received their first yellow card only after committing around twenty fouls, while England received their first yellow after just seven fouls. There were several extremely aggressive and unsporting challenges, including at least one tackle that deserved a red card. Overall, the refereeing was very poor and once again appeared to favor Argentina.
@ahmedatteya7024It should have been 4 or 5 to 1, boys. 2 posts and Pickford made a couple of good saves tbh.
@614SaVaGeEngland should have reached Final with 5 mins to play + extra time as England has so many amazing strikers and attacking midfielders. Instead, Tuchel chose more defenders and defensive midfielder. He had no clues how to defend that lead. He panicked and led the whole team to own that greatest fear. England stopped playing. No more man-marking properly. Both goals were free as no England players came close to mark. Enzo did shoot before but went over the bar. This time, the accuracy was there when no one marked him. How could that be? If you analyzed Argentina team, they would follow you closely whenever you had that ball. They would frustrate, disturb your rhythm and win back the ball.
For this, England coaching team must learn this and all national players must practise it well.
2nd goal, similar problem. There was not enough marking for Messi and a free header in the end with 5 tall England defenders. Shocking indeed. Top coaches like Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep and others would never make such calls. Totally inferior football mindset.
Did Tuchel want England not to win?
Is there a conspiracy here?
English players must learn how to play to win even though you ignore the advice by your coach. Be bold and courageous for your nation and your team. Come on, England in the next tournament.
I think the truth is that both players and managers need to take full responsibility. The starting players first for dropping far too deep in the first place after scoring. That can't be a Tuchel thing because we've seen that from England from the Southgate years in big games. And Tuchel for pouring petrol on the fire for feeding into their cowardice. These two things produced a car crash of a last 30 minutes.
Southgate should be respected for making England get to the latter stages and a few finals but the cowardly loser mentality in big games needs to be rooted out. Tuchel was supposed to change this.
Why doesn't that German guy give Mainoo a chance?
@FootballListDataEngland didn't fail.
The expectations are unrealistic.
They played their last final 60 years ago.
There are 10 teams that are better or have been up there in the final 4 more often and more recent than England.
Kane and Bellingham are Balon d Or -level . .without a doubt.
It's obvious to most people except for the tabloids, pundits and "experts".
It's not coming back home now either . .since it doesn't belong to England. Even the single WC-trophy was won by the referee.
Imagine if England had a player like Liam Brady? Someone who could steer the team around the park.
@willoseePickford is not a good goalkeeper for England he plays for Everton that nearly was relegated England needs a proper no1 keeper that don't concede many goals
@Afc1987England needs ex footballers on the coaching staff coz the England coaching staff have never played football and don't know what to do
@Afc1987As an Irish man I can't see or hear Jimmy - Floyd Hasselbaink's name without thinking about cheese sandwiches
@LKlocalSaka and rashford should of been brought on as runners and hit them on the break, it was down to tuchel, period.
@IG5foreverThe Pickford save was nowhere near world class. That's just the carling talking
@decotronq9054Anderson held Enzo back with a blatant jersey pull in the first half. No mention of that in the English press ππ
@decotronq9054Also, thoughts on Pickford. I dont know what it is but he does not give me no.1 keeper vibes. Does not have that world class presence/skill
@ultim8worrierDeclan Rice injured, or not 100%, and no minutes for Mainoo..shocking
@ultim8worrierFootball, the mentality says it all!?
@garthreid7114Imagine what they are saying on Brazilian / Italian/ German football podcasts. Italy didnt even qualify FFS
@Billyboy-s7hIt was just tactical suicide. There's no other way of wording it.
@HATTORI82Great episode. Got to let each other finish your points though.
@tweetingsWell done lafs this mod material this and webby o neill top podcasts
@JohnRyan-n6mTuchel will pick the wrong squad again. He's stubborn and just there for a pay cheque.
@aromatic987No England are NOT quality
England beat teams like congo ext... n won yupyup
Now they met actual quality and lost
Simple how many shots on target did England have before the goal? Zero EXACTLY so they never had a look in lets be honest lads.
Stop moaning as if yeas had Argentina on the ropes pmsl
Argentina NEVER gave up and adapted to the game n swarmed yeas
Kane n bellend where brutal like the whole game πππππππππ
Scholesyβs football intelligence still shines through even with analysis, he sees the game so well!
@christopheroutram4176Paul Scholes complementing Argentinian players and coach? The sky is falling. Iβve seen everything now
@Arcadious10I'm Argentinian and I love all the analysis you're doing. If I can add something, I'd say that regardless of the players' quality, Argentinians always need to get angry about something or someone. And we don't take that anger off the field. It's just the extra fuel we need, to do what sometimes your physical performance no longer allows. To give more than you think you can. That's just how we are. Even in our National League.
@insamingenieriaacustica6556Bring waistcoat backππ
@JohnRyan-n6mGordon off konsa on that was the mistake it should of been rashfrod he would of run stretch the game created space and relived pressure.
