Loop is not an idea to make people transportat efficently, it's idea to sell more teslas, Elon is tied to his comapnies, so all his ideas are connected to them.
Still those videos are needed. I personally thought that Elon is thinking globally, but now I can see how narrow his vision is. All his ideas need to answer 1 question: how it helps my company (including marketing).

There was some Wall Street Journal hack who proposed replacing the entire New York Subway system with roads, but instead of cars you give everyone one of those hoverboard scooters. And I thought “well at that point you might as well just ban cars from the surface so everyone can get around on scooters that way”

Elon may I introduce you to a better solution, "Better Commuter Trains" no need for Tesla or Cars just a money to but tickets and you'll get from point a to point b even if you can't tell the difference between left and right, it's safe, cheap, efficient and importantly egalitarian

He was ORIGINALLY promising an impossible thing. He promised the "Hyperloop" which was again, someone else's idea from a while ago, that is completely impossible. On paper it would technically be possible, but in the real world a miles long tube kept at a vacuum is not achievable or anywhere near safe.
