DXY at Resistance: Euro, GBP & CAD Breaking Out Against the Dollar
Video Overview & Insights
Chief Market Strategist Gareth Soloway uses technical analysis to deep dive into the currency markets. The DXY is stuck at multi-year resistance while the euro, British pound, and Canadian dollar all flash breakout signals against the dollar. Gareth also reveals why Japan's yen remains the weakest link — and what debt-to-GDP tells us about every currency's future. Watch this video and learn more.
At 6:28 to 7:10 -- Oh, Gareth, the reason that the U.S.Dollar is going down in value
is because it has been so stupidly high in recent years.
The Dollar needs to return to its value in 2004--2014.
Yes, Japan has a worse value to GDP than the U.S., but so does Italy.
France, Canada, and Britain are not much better than the U.S.
You can find some countries which really are much better than the U.S. -- Switzerland, Australia, Germany.
But, you are insisting on trying to make this a current issue instead of looking at the recent past.
The U.S.Dollar has been increasing in value while its ratio to GDP has worsened since 2008.
The U.S.Dollar is long over-due to decrease in value.
And, when the Dollar returns to its value in 2004--2014, the U.S. will no longer need most of its tariffs.

Still don’t get why you don’t include the Swiss Franc in your analysis…. Traders who swap between safe haven currencies are much more interested in the CHF rather than, for instance, the CAD …

@iiovoiiThe dollar is the best looking horse at the glue factory. It will be the last currency standing, but it too will fail.
@pmks4I'll make the prediction gbp to usd ...so the pound will go down vs the usd as the s and p 500 goes down....let's see if Gareth is right or me
@dannyslifeandtravelTrump wants 1.5 trillion for defense alone. Iran is bleeding us.
@Patrick-yh5ydhey man according to your predictions, stock market will go down in the short to mid term, gold will go down in the short to mid term, USD will go down in the short to mid term, Oil will go down in short to mid term, where the Money will be invested, it does not make any sense to me !!!
@modaher6269Especially the CAD, with that inverse head and shoulders, and all those resources in that country.....why isn't the CAD flying?
@marty1h601Please cover currencies more often
@marty1h601When dxy drops again with falling oil and rising equities, i really fear it will break down big.
@DerToasti😂 Dollars look like The Last Jump. Barely good enough to buy drugs :(( 😢
@georghackl6178Very curious to see how the dollar performs if the markets break down - will the dollar strengthen, at least temporarily?
@CoolTheClimateBut you havnt made good case why other currency is better.
@whdndrnThanks Gareth. Great insight as usual
@florence512Not typ war since Trump.
@whdndrnCAD is not as bad as I thought it would be. But in reality it is still not good,
@MikeJ-m7kAll I see from the Eur/USD is that he just came to fill his FVG for a probable bearish continuation
@ikymusic3022Japan net govt debt is close to 120% of GDP, they hold a lot of US bonds, Japan equities (from 80s bailouts), pension funds etc so the 230% gross debt isn't as scary as it sounds...until they start selling those US bonds
@chaoscreepingGareth, in your masterful chart reading presentations, I haven't heard you mention indicators much. Is that because most indicators derive their information from price so you basically go directly to the primary source (the chart)?
BTW, love these currency breakdowns!
Thank you for sharing and your hard work. Deeply appreciated.
@mand1009Thanks Gareth!
@TexasRiverRat31254I’m still thinking DXY can see 102-104. 👀
@Cash_Flow_RetirementNot holding my breath on the CDN dollar breaking out.
@subordinateklaus8192Here I will say : WRONG. USD is going at par next year with EU CURRECY.
BY 2030 WHEN EU IS DISOLVED LOOK AT EURUSD FOR 0.85
A weak dollar is great for exports. Trump knows what he is doing. He is also eroding the debt. The USD has been too strong for too long. From a Brit who wants his $2 to the £ holidays back.
@mw01908Surely though, the amount of war related debt that is now loaded on the US taxpayer is bearish for the dollar????
@mw01908Under this way,where is gold heading ?
@Gabrielhe0506It's a bit misleading to compare a reserve currency with other currencies.
@mh01769This is all the result of the continued kicking the can since 2008 and talking corp earnings instead of fundamentals. And using ta to promote buying on a fake bull market. Shall we kick it some more? Guess they are all too big to fail now...
@hanibalsmith2116Seems he may be abandoning this week's SP 6700 call?? Without saying it.
@hanibalsmith2116Thanks Gareth
@jkent746you guys amazing there is nobody talking like this clear
@usmanghanikhan2789With this debt climbing and refinancing looming. Do you expect to see a credit rating change for the US?
@dj612I love the Forex video. Its the most hard because its not that accurate like stocks and the SP500
@MangeurdemoutonShiny gold look to that collar!
@lisak1928WAIT a while - the USA will catch up with JAPAN with the debt to GDP.
@georgetaylor2819Thanks man. I'm getting ready to convert currency for trading purposes. Also, I'm afraid of capital controls in the UK.
@JamesHothI think the Trump tariff saga together with sanctions, killed the USD completely. Not only it showed how unreliable is to invest in USD denominated assets, but also how desperate is the US political administration, in trying to blackmail commercial partners, in order to rise cash to pay interest on the massive US debt. The war on Iran is last throw of the dices, in trying to strengthen the USD to make the US debt more appealing to foreign investors. It comes with bad reputation and unreliability of anything that is made in USA, without mentioning the moral side. Its sad the a great country like USA has a dictator in charge, which is a thief and a murderer. Worst for USA, is that this clown thinks to be the best in the business, which ultimately will be his downfall.
@lucianogiudice8569$dxy looks bullish to me. War is just getting started...
@mambocowboyTreasuries arent selling .. bond market knows whats coming. So does gold. Nations are trying to start their own commodities exchange to bypass u.s. .. nobodies running to the dollar. Gold the new ultra liquid bond. Holding dollars for more than a year at this pace could cost you massive purchasing power ...
20 dollar loaf of bread not far off if oil doesnt calm down and dollar falls again. Followed by crime and civil unrest, bank runs. Gold and silver we be one of the few things of value when you log into your trading account and it says "funds locked" "funds inexcessable" "account frozen"
Excellent video. I share all of your videos on my Facebook group page about stocks, gold, silver and crypto news.
@rapture2242Thank you so much & have a really lovely weekend!!
@sweetpea9737Thanks Gareth retail got smoked shorting oil by 1 billion dollars yesterday 😂😂😂
