Drones struck residential settlements on the outskirts of Tula city in south of Moscow overnight as attacks on Russia’s Tula region continued, local authorities said. According to Governor Dmitry Milyaev, unmanned aerial vehicles crashed near the settlements of Yamny, Maslovo, Mikhalkovo, and Inshinsky, all located west of central Tula within the city’s administrative district. Private homes and commercial properties sustained damage. The Telegram channel Exilenova+ published footage showing fires in the suburbs, although officials have not reported any blazes. An air raid alert was issued shortly after 1 a.m., followed by a missile threat warning across the region around 3 a.m. The warning was lifted roughly 30 minutes later. Russian authorities said air defenses shot down 16 drones over the region during the night. Official reports state that three people were killed and three others were injured in the attack. The strikes came a day after Ukrainian forces targeted the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region, one of Russia’s largest producers of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers. Reuters previously reported that products from the facility had been supplied to the Sverdlov Plant in Dzerzhinsk, which manufactures explosives used in ammunition production. Being home to a number of major ​industrial ​facilities, Tula region ⁠has been a frequent Ukrainian ​target following ​Russia's ⁠full-scale invasion of Ukraine in ⁠2022.
