Kendrick is objectively a top 5 artist of the genre and drake isn’t. Drake is dope to me but comparing him to Kendrick is weird. They shine in different regards. No one will ever see Drake in terms of hits, chart dominance, and cultural impact as a rapper to the level Drake has. And Kendrick has the most Grammies, the most dangerous pen other than Eminem, and he’s one of very few rappers who can disappear for years and come back and it’s his year.

Kendrick has been critically rated higher than Drake for a long time now but even before the beef, Drake was the face of hiphop. Money talks, he needs to dominate in numbers to be the new face of hiphop. If his new album sells more than Iceman and he actually takes time to promote it instead of just surprising, then he might become the new face of hiphop.

I think Kendrick really wants that #1 spot and isn't happy with being the #2 of hiphop (numberswise).
