Apropos testosterone: men under stress have less testosterone - so a lot of service members especially when deployed in 6h rotas on boats will have low testosterone levels. First: it's testosterone REPLACEMENT therapy (TRT) - the body will react with lower production. TRT leads essentially to a lifelong testosterone "addiction" and can lead to mood crashes if not received. Military operations become highly reliant on supply. Apart from that, there could be an evolutionary reason for lesser testosterone production under stress: cooperation. Full TRT with high stress levels may increase irritability - an 'explosive' recipe for closed quarters...
