Knowing how to sell beats involves making good beats and then figuring out an overall revenue strategy and marketing/branding strategy. I recently found a video that called me an "exception" and asserted that selling beats is a dead end, therefore opening a beat store in 2023 is a bad idea. This is my response.

producers used to make $100k per track and the really famous ones even made more. The game is COMPLETELY different now. I understand what he's saying about selling high ticket items to customers who have money... I've tried to jump ship and try something else more lucrative many times. But I always come back to music because that's what I love. This music life definitely is NOT an easy path. But then again, nothing else is. Thanks for the commentary Pain 100%

Every time I see these videos, where someone complains and attacks other artists and producers, I get nervous.
I started uploading my tracks on BeatStars a year and a half ago, knowing that I wouldn't sell anything for at least a year, also because I offer a niche genre.
With patience and passion, I started to sell my first tracks 4 months ago and that's by making tracks that are not related to a let's say mainstream market.
Instead of crying and criticising others, these people should first ask themselves where and why they are going wrong in terms of strategy.

Why would anyone buy or listen to his beats when he can't even upload a video with quality audio as far as the vocals are concerned?
His audio sounds like he's recording in a fucking echo chamber for crying out loud! I'm supposed to believe you got beats worth buying
when you can't even get your vocals on an uploaded video to YouTube where you rant about the struggles of selling beats sounding good?

I made just under 15 grand last year selling beats and I'm an under the radar nobody!
To claim that artists can't make money from their instrumentals is honestly insane!

@Kgomotso_MkI use beat selling platforms to link with producers that I like and still buy beats from them on and outside of the platform. Overtime most things do get oversaturated cause of popularity in growth. I think the "HipHop" genre is now so vast of cultural that its sound getting blended into other genres as well. If a producer doesn't have a place for potential buyers to listen and link up with then they shouldn't feel it's wrong using a platform that's costumed to them to do so.

Or people would have bought waaaay more than he's bitter about selling. He looks 65 year's old so maybe that's deceiving in itself but damn. I guarantee it was not created in 5 minutes... whats the hurry? Make music and you may find that you sound unique.. anyone can make lego music... don't let these producers make you believe that everything you make is fire, true artists spend hours throwing shit away until you compose something tangible... look up the meaning of being creative... definitely not lego music...

Music Producer Done Invested in Over $25,00 In there studio just to make little to no money. I rather put my music on all platforms and in stores and sale good music to people around the world. At least I can see my profit. I look into my Beatstars account I got $0.00. I look into my CDBABY account I got Cashflow. Just saying.

@BTP40I'm kinda new to music production so I really dont know much but I can tell you that Ive posted videos taken with my iphone of some throw away loop that I thought was nothing and even those are getting views on Youtube, IG, and Tik Tok. I've never sold a beat but have been approached by some companies for collabs/affiliate work, and even artist simply because I had a few followers/views. That there is already the opportunity to make money. I yet to consider myself a beat seller because I am still not there but working on it daily. Opportunities will come in ways you never expected. Idk..to each their own.

@UziBlancoOfficialThis guy is right in the sense that there is no money in music and its a rich kids game at this point. If you're going to chase after something, be a plumber. People needs plumbers, they don't need music in a world where music is basically free and the tools to make it are proliferating endlessly. The chances of you making money are slim and you're going to have to put in your entire youth to get good enough to make McDonalds money.

Talk about a dying/dead genre! He’s laughing at “broke” rappers? Streams pay $0.004! That’s the worst advice. Releasing beats to streaming services is definitely one way to make fans of your production style and build your own listeners, but it is NOT a way to make money.
