Dog Training Tips In 'Teenage Phase'

Wonderful advice! And your tip to take it "one day at a time" is a great one especially when they are driving us nuts. I have always preferred protective breeds and learned a long time ago that the ones who push/annoy the most as teenagers always become my favorite dogs as adults. ::)

I never acknowledged the teenage phase with dogs. Thinking back it's definitely real and needs to be managed

Lab wont retrieve. Sweet. Doesn’t run away & comes to me when called. BUT chews everything. I bought things to chew and she swallows them. Finally i put up a separate fenced yard and she cries and barks. She is barely separated by a fence but she’s unhappy. She’s 2 and needs a home. Sorry that she is so unhappy

I like the part he tells us the plan for any of it ?? So where I start ?? Because these just seems like all talk no real advice

This Advises works more for pure breed dogs, my dog is a mix of 4 breeds and he is non of them altough he is 34% of golden retriver he does not like to retrive he can but he does not like it and he is 23 Amstuffe and 21 pit bull but he does not gard anything so we cant really find his Purpose.

Some tipps for the barking issue with guard dogs ? Like for the Labrador you showed to get them focused on a retrieval dummy.

Thank you for this! I have a 10 month old GS/lab cross. She's become challenging. Her personality seems more lab than her mother, a shepherd. We walk often and lose leash. Recently, she's taken to wanting to chase cars, she's stopped doing that at 4 months with leash pop training. Then, she restarted trying that again on our walks. I felt all our training went out the window! This video helped me understand that i need to stay calm and keep firm with her (she has just started her first heat) and remember we are learning together. She is also going through a difficult time too. Thank you for this. Love your videos. ❤

I really enjoyed this video.. Rules. Boundaries expectations.. Also applies to humans relations. But yes. Lots of info on behaviour and KNOWING the dog u havr.. And learning how to utilise it's natural behavior for good. Like the Lab instance. It needs to be retrieving. Before I get a dog I am goin to do so much research using this guys knowledge n advice and also others.. And really look into what breed is best for me. Not a lab. I don't have the time.

This doesn’t work with all breeds. Flock guardians are not retrieving anything.

I have a question about making dog crazy with a call etc. Some trainers day that this may unlock unwanted ball fixation that they can’t snap out of. They are suggesting that we should throw ball only a couple of times in one go especially with dogs prone to have a really big chasing drive likę JRT.. could you please advise on thatv

This video has been an epiphany for me. It reset me to the fact my 8 month Rottie doesn't have days he doesn't get it, I do. For example, I've got to be more interesting to him than the poo he's rolling in lol. This channel is unquestionably helping me to become a better dog owner and leader.

i have a teenage male GSD. He’s an amazing dog but very tiring at this point. He keeps reaching for my arms and ankles and bites very hard now (as a puppy it was fine but now he’s very strong). Any tips to stop this? it’s very painful

Thanks for this! I have a 1 y.o. tiny dog, super socialized to be a good urban dog, and she's just starting to be a bit reactive... which is what I've worked so hard to avoid. She'd also be a good bomb sniffer or the like, because (like the ones I've seen) she's obsessed with throw toys. I will now bring a soggy toy with me as I continue her endless social neighbourhood exposure, and hopefully dial back the forming reactivity.
Meanwhile, a neighbour just got a puppy and apparently thinks they can just slot it into their busy lives, in a condo, with zero prep or understanding of its needs. So far they are on their way to an unhappy, anxious dog. (I have said something, which they may or may not have taken in.) Give me strength.

My dog is 6 months and she is straying further on our field walks, but only when she sees her dog friends. So far her recall is still on track

The "bad" behaviour is the kind of behaviour I like. The purpose of my dog is to keep all other life forms far away from me. The less I have to tell people to "get off my lawn", the better.

Will, stumbled on your channel love it! and your accent1 ve got a aussie labradoodle, 6 mo. from reputable breeder. I thought i was doing ok but now shes a tenager i think, as her working dog genes are kicking in. Shes always played fetch great, has fun a nd growls. Shes just so hyper meeting new people and new dogs, kangaroo hopping, just syco. she will settle some and end up playing hard with dog but shes just off chart with excitement. potty broke day we got her at 9 weeks, sits, downs, stays, shakes hands places fair. will getting her spade help? and what an i do to help her? She doesnt like car rides either at this point.thanks
